Hi I'm Katie

Music, art, cultures, travel, and people inspire my life. The Gospel fulfills my purpose to live. I am a Mormon.

About Me

From a young age, I started playing the piano. This came to me with ease and comfort and I continue to use music as a way to release emotions and lift my soul. Through music I find myself and love to reach to others with the influence of melodies and beautiful written words. Though I love to play the piano and sing, my focus in school at the university is International Studies with an emphasis in Italian. At the age of ten I promised myself that one day I would be fluent in Italian. Since then I studied for 3 years during high school and 1.5 years at college. I am now preparing for a mission to Italy Milan and leave in March. I love to serve others and cannot wait to serve the Lord while on my full-time mission. The gospel has influenced my purpose of living.

Why I am a Mormon

My life story may be similar to others. Born and raised in a family that were members of the LDS church, I learned the gospel principles since infancy. But this does not mean I sailed through life without challenges, doubts, discourages, or confusion. In those moments of deep despair and loneliness, I sought an answer through prayer. The most beautiful feeling of peace enters my heart, with a confirmation that I am not alone. My testimony is personal to me. My own experiences influence my growth in the gospel. I am a Mormon because I love to know that there are thousands of others out there in the world, just like me. Together our purpose is to return to our Heavenly Father and receive the eternal blessings of continual happiness. I know that I cannot live without the gospel and I know that with the gospel, I can live.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through participating in choirs, whether in my ward or through the LDS Institute on college campus. I love the scripture D&C 25:12 "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me..." The spirit in a room of 50 young adults- men and women from all ages and walks of life- is so tangible during songs of worship. Opportunities to sing to General Authorities, at firesides broadcast to the world, and on Temple Square influenced my testimony that I know I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and knows me. Personally.
