Hi I'm Caitlyn

I am a wife, a student, I love nutrition, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love anything that has to do with food and to some I may seem like a nutrition nut. I am currently going to school studying to be a Dietitian and my dream job would be to work in a hospital but any job is better then no job right! I am married to the most amazing man and I consider myself lucky enough to have married my best friend. We recently graduated from the "newly wed status" as we have just hit our year mark. I am a movie fanatic and can be found almost every Tuesday at the theater for $5 Tuesday with a big thing of popcorn. I am the 2nd of 4 kids and I am the only girl. When all four of us are together things get a little crazy but we are having a blast. I love camping, hiking, swimming and playing soccer. We are currently babysitting some friends fish and I have learned I am not a fish person. One thing is for certain I love being a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this gospel, and I kind of just went through the motions. I would go to church on Sunday because that is what you do on Sunday, my family had family prayer every morning and every night, Monday nights were family home evening, etc. Then high school came and those joyous teenage years accompanied it. I wanted to fit in and to be accepted. Who doesn't at that age? This started me down a path of misery though. My Senior year is when I truly realized that what I was doing or had done wasn't getting me the happiness I wanted in life. Relationships with those that mattered most were strained and I wasn't happy with myself. At that moment I realized I need to change. As I turned to prayer and the scriptures I found the path that would lead me to the true happiness I desired. Repentance is an amazing tool that the Savior has provided for us. The ability to be forgiven and be changed for the better. Sometimes the commandments can seem like a restriction, but they aren't they are loving guidelines that will lead you to lasting happiness. I look at my life now compared to back then and it is a total 180. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who loves me and is so aware of me. I know that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer. That He suffered and died for me personally so that when I make mistakes, which is on a daily basis, that I can receive forgiveness as I try my hardest to change. I know this gospel is true! It has changed my life and I am eternally grateful for that.

How I live my faith

I think that your faith should be more then merely something that you do but it should become a part of you. This gospel is a gospel of change. As you incorporate it into all aspects of your life it changes you. You focus less on how will this affect me but how this will affect those around you. I am far from perfect and I make mistakes everyday, but I have found that through daily scripture study even if it is as little as 10 minutes a day it makes my whole day go better. The scriptures are Heavenly Father's personal letters to us. He wants to help us and so often this is where the answers to our prayers are found. Prayer is another tool I have come to love. When you come to realize that prayer is a two way communication between you and your Heavenly Father, you slow down and really put effort into it. As I have prayed I have come to realize my true identity as his daughter. That He loves me so much and I matter to him. As that relationship has grown what others think and say about me doesn't matter. I found that as I serve those around me whether through big acts of service or small that I benefit more from it then those that I am serving. I have come to find as you forget yourself you find yourself. Opportunities to serve are never convenient in our crazy lives but as we take the opportunity to lend a helping hand we are truly blessed.
