Hi I'm Niki Hughes

I grew up in Idaho. Love to write and smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to write, about pretty much anything. I'm currently a Junior in High School. Last year I had a heart monitor implant and I deal with a couple other heart difficulties and neurological ailments as well. I'm a happy person with four sisters and awesome parents. I love life and love the gospel. The thing that keeps me going through trials is the knowledge that even though my body's not perfect now, it's unique, and I know that because of the Atonement, and specifically the Resurrection, I'll receive a perfect one soon. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been LDS, a Mormon. However, I continue to follow His gospel because I have learned for myself it is true. I have been through seemingly impossible challenges; there were days I literally could not stand up on my own due to my heart. He was the reason I tried. I wanted to go to church because of the way I felt there. I went on the Pioneer Trek Reenactment a month after heart surgery despite every one saying I couldn't; I walked the whole way; my Savior carried me. I learned the Book of Mormon was true for one Christmas Eve I just opened up and began reading and it took me to a page that told of His birth. That testifies to me of truth. I am a Mormon because this gospel is the true gospel, and I say that in the name of Jesus Christ, the only one being who knows exactly how I feel all of the time, my Big Brother, amen.

How I live my faith

I am the Laurel's President in my wonderful ward. I love my girls! So I'm just in charge of my group of girls and the majority of them, we laugh and cry together, and keep the guys talking. But most of all, we learn who we are together; Daughters of God, princesses. It's great to hang out and get to know others of the same beliefs and standards. You aren't judged and you always know you have somewhere to go and people to trust and people who trust you in return. We plan activities together and just laugh, a lot.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Niki Hughes
A blessing we can receive from the Holy Ghost is a witness of truth, knowing by a feeling that will come upon us, possibly a burning sensation, that something is true. Or perhaps, a warning to "get out." Or a notion that what we are doing is wrong, some may say this is merely the voice of conscience, it is much more. It is the spirit of God testifying and blessing you with right and wrong, decision making, and promptings. We have agencies to adhere to the promptings and this third member of the Godhead, but He is there, always blessing, we just need to be willing to listen. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Niki Hughes
Faith is gaining a knowledge of the truthfulness of something you've hoped for, but didn't have evidence behind. I have faith in God and Jesus Christ, I know they live and that I can live with them again through experiences I've had and trials of faith. Through each trial of my faith, my faith is tested and restored, but in more magnitude, it increases in abundance. My love for them grows and my belief in them with it. Faith is an action word. If you have faith you act upon it. You are an example of it, you live the way you Heavenly Father has asked of you and all of His children. Faith is more than believing, faith is trusting in your Maker, that He'll provide a way. Show more Show less
