Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in Southern Alberta. I am happily married with four kids. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married man who loves his family. As a family we love to camp and go on adventures. I love to go to museums with my children and watch them learn. I love to be outdoors. I enjoy all types of sports. I am currently training for my first Ironman Triathlon.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the church and as such I was raised in the church. My testimony of the church began at a young age as my parents took me to church and I watched those around me. Eventually as I grew older I began to realize that I would need to know for myself about the church. I could no longer rely on my parents and what they told me was true. When I was 15 my best friend died in a car accident. As I struggled with the reality of what had happened and what I could do I was reminded of the things that I had been taught in primary. How that death of our mortal bodies was not the end but just a step in our progression to return to live with our Heavenly Father. As I was struggling with all of these questions in my mind the day after my friend had died my grandmother passed away also. I was asked to be a pallbearer at both funerals which turned out to be on the same day. I prayed for strength from my Heavenly Father, I prayed to know for myself if the things that I had learned in primary was true, I prayed to know if I would be able to see my grandmother and best friend again. The answer that I received from my Heavenly Father was a resounding YES! This answer was given to me throughout the day of the funerals. I was expecting it to be a day of sadness and despair, and what I found was just the opposite. While we were all sad to see our loved ones go, we were supported in knowing that our Father in Heaven had a plan for us and that we would be able to see them again. This experience and answer to my prayers began me on a journey that lead me to where I am today. To know that our Father hears and answers our prayers brought so much peace to my soul. I went on in my life to serve a mission in Ventura California. Married my wife in the Edmonton, Alberta Temple. Together we try to raise our kids in the gospel and try to give them the same examples that we were given by our parents so that they can know the truth for themselves as well.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday of my life in everything that I do. Currently, I am the first counsellor to the Bishop in our ward. My faith helps to make all of the decisions that I make each day.
