Hi I'm Connie

I'm an athlete, an artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of six children and I have a very close relationship with my siblings as well as my parents. I have always enjoyed all types of sports, especially basketball, football, and racquetball. I recently have picked up running. At a very young age I discovered I had an eye for art and I have been painting and sketching ever since. I also love capturing important moments in my life and in the lives of others with my camera. I am never without it! I am a college student and have been diligently working towards a degree for the past few years. I find great satisfaction in listening to, helping, and understanding other people so I am pursuing a degree in Psychology. One of my life dreams is to interview people from all over the world and compile a book that will inspire other people. I am a firm believer that even the little things that we do can better the world around us.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised as a Mormon, it has ultimately been my choice to continue being a member of this Church. I choose to be a Mormon because this faith brings me unparalleled peace and joy. Though I have experienced heartache and pain in my life, I have also experienced great joy and happiness because of my knowledge of the gospel. It is through God that I have been able to overcome the trials and temptations I have faced in my life. I can feel of God's love, and I know that He will comfort and sustain me when I need help. I know that God gives us commandments as a protection and also as a way to be happy. I know that God is our Heavenly Father, and that He has loved His children at all times and in all places of the world. He knows each of us individually. Just as I know that the Bible testifies of Christ's ministry in Jerusalem, I know that The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ. It is a record about Christ's ministry in the Americas, and includes the words of the prophets who foretold of His coming. Because I have read and prayed about The Book of Mormon I know that it is true. Because I know it is true, I also know that the Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that he did see God the Father, and His son Jesus Christ. Because I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, I also know that the church he helped restore to the Earth--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints--is true. It is God's true church which contains the fullness of the gospel. I am grateful for this church, for the Book of Mormon, and for modern day revelation because they have helped me come to know God. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that he lived a perfect life. His love is pure and eternal. He is a god of miracles. Because of His great love for us He performed the Atonement, so that He would know how to comfort us. The Atonement also makes it possible for us to overcome sin, and to become like God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by building a relationship with God everyday. I believe that He is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me. I draw closer to Him by reading the scriptures daily, including the Book of Mormon, and praying throughout the day to Him. Following Christ means loving others as He did. In John 13:34-35 we read the words of Christ, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." As a member of this church we are each given opportunities to serve one another through callings that we are given. In my ward, I have the opportunity to visit people who are sick or new in our community and I get to know them. It is very rewarding and a great way to make friends. I hope that when people get to know me, they want to know God too.
