Hi I'm Paul Joshua Hurst

I grew up in Hawaii. I put my studies in Chemistry on hold to serve a mission for this church in Norway, Oslo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to continually learn about various subjects as much as possible. I enjoy sharing what I learn with others. I also have a strong passion for music. I can play five musical instruments (piano, oboe, saxophone, clarinet, and organ) and I also enjoy sharing my talents with others. I also enjoy being in nature by biking, hiking, and jogging. I recently finished my freshmen year in college student studying chemistry. I put my studies on hold to serve a two year mission in Norway. I started July 2013 and finished in August 2015. It waS an honor to serve the people in Norway.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but I still had to develop a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church for myself. To me, the gospel is logical. I know that God is our loving Heavenly Father. God is all knowing and all powerful, yet still all loving. He created a plan where we can come to Earth and be tested of our loyalty and obedience to his commandments. In doing so, we can be made clean through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son. Some ask, could God have made everything? If he exists, does he love us? or doesn't science prove that God isn't real? By looking around, I know God is the creator, he loves us, and yes, he works through science. He made this world for us. I see the beauty of the Earth and the universe and am continually awed of the works of God.

How I live my faith

I loved serving the Norwegian people. Being a missionary was special because the message we shared is of eternal significance. Along with being a missionary, music has brought me closer to God as it can be a prayer of the righteous, if clean and uplifting. I enjoy sharing spiritual music with others as it brings the Spirit of peace. I also love reading the scriptures learning more about how our Savior wants us to serve him and our fellow men and women. Now, I try to find ways to show small acts of service from day to day.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Paul Joshua Hurst
We can know our Father in Heaven simply by speaking with him. We can communicate to Him with heart-felt sincere pray, getting on our knees, asking God if he is real and loves us. If your desire is real, God will provide an answer through the Holy Spirit. If we have a good feeling inside of us after doing so, it is a sign that God is answering our prayers. There are other ways as well such as through prayerful scripture study and the testimony of others. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Paul Joshua Hurst
As a full time missionary I know that missionaries primarly serve missions to help others come unto Christ. If there is something that we have that is so precious and has helped us tremendously, we would want to share it. That is the purpose is proselyting, to help people feel the same joy and hapiness that we have felt from being members of this church. Show more Show less
