Hi I'm Sam

I am a friend, sister, daughter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being active, especially outdoors. I love meeting new people and making new friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I attended camps for girls my age and made a friend there who began inviting me to sports, and then activities with the young women, and eventually church on Sundays. At first I went so I could spend more time with my new friend because there was something different about her and I always felt happy when I was around her. It took me several years, but it eventually came to the point that I could no longer deny the truth of what I was learning at these various activities. Without this Gospel in my life, I would never have made it this far. I am a much happier person now. I know that when I find the right guy someday and we get sealed in the temple that we will be together for eternity. I am grateful that I know I can be with my family forever. Christ is my strength and my happiness.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a full-time missionary in the Georgia Macon Mission for a period of 18 months beginning May 22, 2013.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Sam
I can't name some things that tell me there is a God because everything testifies to me that God is real. Take our bodies for example. I have studied a lot of human anatomy and physiology as part of a pre-med major, but all of the scientific explanations have only supported my belief in my Heavenly Father and Creator. An amazing creation like our bodies couldn't have come from some random assembly of particles and still be able to accomplish all of the wonderful tasks they can. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Sam
When I had first decided to serve a mission one of my aunts expressed concern with my decision and I struggled to think of a way to explain to her why it was so important to me. Naturally, I turned to my best friend and she put it perfectly. She has been playing violin for more than ten years and is amazing! The way she described is was by relating it to her desire to share her music with others. When we love something so much, we want as many people as possible to share that experience with us. It works the same way with the Gospel. I know the amazing impact being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has had on my life, and the peace and joy it's brought me. I want everyone to have the opportunity to feel that same way. So for me it's not only a commandment we've been given to share the Gospel with those around us, but it's an opportunity to reach out to my brothers and sisters and give them something more in their life.
