Hi I'm Petra

Born and raised in The Netherlands about 40+ years ago. This May it will be 8 years since i was baptized. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work full time, no children, engaged. My interests are: reading, i read almost anything that i can get my hands on, even on the internet. I love to crochet, bake and a lot of other crafts. My major achievement of the past few years is the fact that i have lost 79 kilo's. I have many more to go but i can already be very proud of that

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a catholic and was baptized, did my communion and was confirmed (at twelve, in Dutch we call it Vormsel). The day that happened i realized that it was not the faith for me and i started on a quest that lasted many years. I read a lot, went to different churches, prayed but never found what i was looking for. And when i did i was too shy to take the necessary steps to really investigate a church. In all that time i did feel that Heavenly Father was close, patiently waiting for me. Eventually, on a day in March, 7 years ago, i got up very early one morning and kept myself busy for hours until i finally relaxed and told Heavenly Father that i was ready and that He could send me someone to help me. That same evening my doorbell rang. In front of my door were two missionaries from this church and i invited them in. I was shocked since i had not expected someone that soon and i think they were shocked that i was so enthusiastic. After a short introduction and a talk about the Book of Mormon we made a new appointment for that same week. A few things happened that week, like almost being crushed by a truck on the highway that made me realize that i could no longer deny Heavenly Father my baptism and i got baptized on the first Friday of May. Heavenly Father is always there for me, whenever i call out for help He is there for me and with every day my faith in Him grows and grows and i know that Christ came to this earth to atone for our sins and that he died for us. I know that i am a child of God and that He awaits my return and that He loves all His children. I leave you with this in the name of His son Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

Because of bad health i have not been very active in church for the past few years. In those years i have lived my faith through personal study, reading many books, studying the bible and listening to talks on the internet. I do hope that in the near future i can be a lot more active in day to day church life and help others
