Hi I'm Kayla

I'm attending college, love being outside in the sun and being active. I'm as average as they come. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm attending Brigham Young University only a sophomore and leaving to serve in the Santiago Chile East mission. When I return I hope to apply to a nursing school and work in a hospital for the rest of my life. I love being in the sun and playing sports. I'm pretty average at most of them but my personal favorites are basketball, running, and softball. I play the piano because I can't sing but find great joy in that talent. I love movies especially Disney movies and love a good trivia game. I'm the second oldest child but the first in my entire family line to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have heard it several times that the church although has good morals and values, brainwashes their children to follow blindly behind their parents. Although at first children do grow up in the footsteps of their parents, I have come to find that we can compare ourselves and our children to newly planted saplings that need stabilizing post to keep us upright and growing in the right direction. But after so much growth the tree then no longer needs the post to keep them standing and it's then their choice as to where they want to grow. Although I have grown up in the church all my life, the stabilizing post of my parents has long been removed and I have chosen to grow in the direction my parents have lead me. I'm a Mormon because I am happy, I am an individual, and it is my choice to take apart in my religion. I know that there is a bigger plan for me that my Heavenly Father has provided, and that plan continues not only in this life, but in a life after this one. And I have the chance to be with my family throughout all eternity. I'm physically healthy and will forever be because I have followed my religion and have chosen myself to not partake of substances such as alcohol or tobacco. I'm physically happy and feel that my family relationship even exist at all because we participate in the Mormon religion. I'm a Mormon.. and I'm so happy to be one!

How I live my faith

I have served in my church since the time I was thirteen and was called to lead the girls in my ward ages twelve to fourteen. I have since served in several different areas, examples being working as a secretary, organizing yard sales to raise money for our yearly young women camp out, creating job list for members in my ward who are unemployed and looking for work, planting flowers in our public libraries and other community buildings, sewing dolls or quilts for the Children's hospital, getting together with others from my community and playing recreational sports such as volleyball and basketball which is a lot of fun and a good way to stay active for free. And now am leaving my family, friends, and the life that I am so accustom to, to spend eighteen months in a different country that speaks a different language to tell the people of Chile why I love being a Mormon.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe that the Bible and Book of Mormon work together to teach about Jesus Christ and the many miracles that He performed not only in settings where the Bible was written, in Jerusalem and on that side of the world but also in the ancient America's. Show more Show less
