Hi I'm Brandon

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I love my wonderful family. I like fishing, snowboarding, and wrestling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have two older brothers and three beautiful sisters. I also have a wonderful mother and a dedicated father. I spent much of my early childhood playing with Legos and dirt. I also played many little leagues sports including football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling. Later on I narrowed my athletic focus solely to wrestling--partly due to my small size and largely due to my love for the sport. I began off-season training when I was twelve years old and continued to sacrifice much of my spring and summer months up until my senior year of high school. As a result I was the 120 pound Utah state champion in 2012. Currently I am living in Provo, Utah where I attend Brigham Young University. I enjoy math and science but have not yet declared a major. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Philippines Bacolod Mission where it is anticipated I will serve for a period of 24 months. I am very grateful for the opportunity to share the gospel that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into a Mormon family, I had to personally determine what I truly believed. I reasoned that the best way to discover whether The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was absolutely true was to try it. Therefore, some time in my teen years, I developed a gospel study plan that I believed if I followed would allow me to discover the truth. As I read and pondered the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon, I felt a change occur in my life. I felt an increase in joy and love. Peace and forgiveness has been granted unto me and I know that I am loved and cared for by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though I find no error in my logic, I found that my testimony came more from the Spirit than from reason. At times I feel the Holy Spirit confirm to me the truthfulness of this gospel. And what greater witness can you have than from God (Doctrine and Covenants 6:23)? I continually see the many ways in which I am blessed as I live according to my faith. I have gained a love for the scriptures and service and every day I try to become a little bit better at being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Our Heavenly Father has given us many guidelines that help keep us on the path that leads back to Him in heaven. We find can find many of the commandments in the scripture, but others come to us from our living prophets and apostles. I live in accordance with the Lord’s commandments so that I can avoid the consequences of sin and be worthy to feel the influence of the Holy Spirit guide and direct me in my personal life. I study the scriptures daily and pray often. I do my best to keep vulgar language off my tongue and out of my ears. I attend church and partake of the sacrament weekly. I avoid any media or activities that could arouse lustful desires. I refrain from the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and other potentially harmful substances. I am honest with myself an others in all my dealings. I suppress contention and promote love and peace. I attend the temple whenever occasion permits. In essence, I strive to be the best I can be in all aspect of my life (academic, physical, spiritual, etc.) and live the way my God would have me live.
