Why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

I Follow Christ.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Kyle
Temples are holy places where faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints go to participate in ordinances prepared by God that help themselves and others be able to live with their families after this life forever. Reasons why only some members of the church can participate in these ordinances are: Those who are going to the temple must be prepared to go there. Ways we prepare are things such as : being baptized by water and the Spirit by one who has the authority of God. Being in good standing with the Lord.(or just doing all we are commanded to do by God) Another is going to the temple at the right time in our lives.(before missionaries go on a mission or before Members of the church get married and etc.) After members go for the first time for themselves they are able to go again as often as they are able to help those who have passed on from this life to receive the same ordinances and blessing. What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Kyle
I feel that these scriptures express my feelings on the matter. Matthew 22: 35-40 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Proverbs 9:9 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. We love our brothers and sisters so we want to find them and help them. Also teaching them to help themselves and others will help them so much more than just giving them momentary aid. Show more Show less

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Kyle
When you come to understand the true purpose of this life you wouldn't prevent a dear brother or sister from coming to this world. I know that it isn't always so cut and dry for people... that is because they don't understand fully the reasons for us being here. Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Kyle
Articles of faith 1:3 We believe that through the Atonement‍ of Christ, all mankind‍ may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Being baptize by proper authority(found only in this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) we gain entrance into the kingdom of God. But we do not believe that once we are baptized and have joined the church that all is done. We must continue joyfully on through this life with an eye single to the glory of God; nothing wavering, but if we fail to live up to the covenants we make and sin, we exercise faith in Christ, repent, and change darn it! We don't just keep on doing the evil or lesser things we did before! We sacrifice our life at baptism for a better one! One our Eternal Father has prepared for us. James 1:22 But be ye doers‍ of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. A TRUE Saint of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will not only hear the word of God and love it but will DO the word of God and love it. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kyle
When you are baptized a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you take on Christ's name! You covenant with God to live as Christ lived! And if you think that Christ the son of God lazily walked about this earth doing all the things he wanted to do, putting off the example he was ordained in the grand council in heaven to be, you are dead wrong! He lived and died in his missionary work ! And then after he was dead he still didn't slow down! He started the missionary work in the world of the spirits. But serving a mission for our church is not the only time we are missionaries. From the moment you are born again you are under a binding covenant with God to be an example to the unbelievers. We will stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death!!! Doesn't that sound like what our Brother Christ did for us? Ought we not to do the same it whatever ways we can? Mosiah 2:21 I say unto you that if ye should serve him who has created you from the beginning, and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another—I say, if ye should serve him with all your whole souls yet ye would be unprofitable servants. There is nothing we can do or amount to in this life that could ever pay back God for all our many blessings. But that is not why we do what we do. We serve because we love God. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Kyle
The Book of Mormon proves that Christ lives, Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God and that we have a prophet to day that leads God's children, The Church of Jesus Christ of Later day Saint's is the ONLY church on the planet that truly is God's church, and that the heavens are NOT closed! God speaks to each of us because he loves us. Alma 5:46 Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me. If you don't already know these things for yourself from God, you need to have our church's missionaries come tell you about it. They will be able to share it with you a lot better than I can with a few words in a box on a screen. Use the link below to request missionaries in your area to come to you in your home and share the Book of Mormon with you. They will give you free copies of it if you want to read it. http://www.mormon.org/missionaries Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Kyle
The gospel of Christ is nothing temporal. Christ never asked anyone to pay him for his teachings why would we do that today? You can know that the missionaries, bishops and branch presidents, and other leaders of the church truly care about those they serve. If they are not getting paid what other motive could they have except that they honestly want to help lift, inspire, and guide? Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Kyle
A true family unit... A mother and father and their children form the family. In this home all members of the family are blessed from each others good choices. They learn, grow, and fight their way through this darkening world and this life together to preserve each other and to help each other return to our Father, God. I know there are many people in this world with out families and with broken families. But don't be short sighted. This life is not the beginning nor will it end after we die. Christ has made it possible for us all to come back to live with God our Father. We have a family in heaven. Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Kyle
We believe in Christ; His life, death, and resurrection. That when He lived on earth that He organized his church. That after His assentation into heaven and the death of the apostles that His TRUE church was no longer on the earth. And that after centuries of apostasy our loving God brought forth a prophet in our day and over several years restored His TRUE church. April 6, 1830 the church was officially organized in these days. Through His prophets God has lead us and does lead us. Here is a link to read about what we believe as a church: https://www.lds.org/scriptures/pgp/a-of-f/1?lang=eng Here is a link to have missionaries stop by and tell you in person what we believe: http://www.mormon.org/missionaries Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Kyle
Because God commanded it for a time as he has in times passed. People "love" the Bible so much but if they actually bothered to read it they would know that it wasn't the first time it was a practice used it the true church in ancient times as well. But in order you to know that God did command plural marriage you need to grow a testimony of the Book of Mormon and that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet. If you don't know these things for yourself I am sure you would have a problem with it. But if you care to learn more about all this have the missionaries in your area stop by and tell you all about it. you can use this link to get started: http://www.mormon.org/missionaries Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Kyle
Some people like to cause problems and some just know anything other than what they have heard or read which is circulated by those who want to cause problems for our church. We are not a cult, we are Christ's church. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Kyle
We do baptisms for the dead because we believe in a God who loves all His children. Worthy members of our church go to temples to do this ordinance to give those who never had the opportunity to be baptized themselves that choice to join Christ's church. Have the missionaries in your area come and tell you all about it: http://www.mormon.org/missionaries Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Kyle
As long as it is translated correctly yes, we do believe in the Bible. Both testaments are witnesses of our Savior Jesus Christ, His mission, and His divinity. One might ask how to know which translation is the correct or most correct. If this is your honest question you should speak with the missionaries from our church they can help you out. What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Kyle
The Atonement is what Jesus did for us so we can go back and be with our families, him, and God in heaven for all time and eternity. All he asks in return is for us to love him. And if we love him we will obey him. To learn more about What Christ did for us talk to the missionaries near you: http://www.mormon.org/missionaries Show more Show less
