Hi I'm Tyler Monson

I'm a missionary, cartoonist, writer and a Mormon

About Me

Who am I anyways? The funny thing is that I too would like to know the answer to that question. Here’s what I've figured out so far: I’m a child of God, a dreamer, a cartoonist, a writer and a slave to American commercialism. I like to be the goofy sidekick to all of my friends, when things get rough; I enjoy being there to lighten up the mood. I've lived in Idaho, Indiana, Utah and Guatemala and I’m the second of four children. I've had my writing published over 30 times in places such as the Deseret News, and A Celebration of Poets. It's a joy to write! And when your writing is bound into a book, the joy is unparalleled I'm a Missionary, a writer, cartoonist, thinker, dreamer, the Boy who Lived, a Jedi Knight, a masked vigilante in my spare time....and I'm a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

In Doctrine and Covenants 46 we learn about the Gifts of the Spirit, and that for some, a gift is given to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he was crucified for the sins of the world. I guess I have that gift, I've always known that the gospel is true and that Jesus Christ is my savior. It just makes sense. But it really hit me of the surety of the church when I visited the Sacred Grove. I was 14, and my family went to Palmyra, New York on a Church History tour. Just being able to go to the place where Joseph Smith had the first vision strengthened my testimony tenfold. The Church of Jesus Christ is indeed the restored gospel! It's true, I've felt it!

How I live my faith

I have my mission call to go and serve in Guatemala later this year. Lately my focus has been set on the gospel in a way I have never felt before. I am excited for the opportunity to serve and all the things I will learn. Preparing for a mission has really taught me the richness of the gospel, as I have had to dig deeper into principles I learned when I was young. In church I am the secretary for the Priests, a group of young men from 16-18. I have helped plan many activities that will help the youth prepare to serve their missions I do a fair amount of service in my community! It's always a joy to help others, especially when they aren't expecting it!
