Hi I'm Natilee

I'm from Illinois. I love to travel, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a Junior in college that has changed my major four times. I love learning about everything, but especially about different cultures. Traveling to other places is my favorite because I love to experience a different way of life and meet new people. I love swimming, reading, and baking, but I'm probably on pinterest more than I do anything else.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that actively participated in the gospel, but living and understanding the gospel through parents can only take you so far. I lived how I was told and asked few questions if any. There came a time, however, when I had to make decisions that my parents wouldn't know about. I had to figure out if the gospel was true; if this was how I wanted to live my life. There was no AHA! moment for me. It was a gradual process of understanding that slowly made my decision about the church firm and steadfast. I have no doubt whatsoever that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of God. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. That fact alone is one that helped me know that the Church was true. If Heavenly Father only gave us one book that has been changed over time, then through human error and limited understanding there is a thousand different ways to interpret the Bible. God is not a Father in Heaven who wants His people to be confused. He wants us to understand and return to Him, which is why He sent us the Book of Mormon. This beautiful book makes it so that the Bible is clear and so is His church.

How I live my faith

I recently learned that to be true and faithful I have to pray and read scriptures every day. The thing about living my faith is that in order to be who Heavenly Father wants me to be, I have to progress. I have to be more than just a Sunday church-goer. I go to church on Sunday, but reading my scriptures, praying, fasting, and fulfilling my callings are also important. If I don't do all of these things, or even most of them, I find myself thinking about things I shouldn't be thinking about and having an attitude about nothing in particular. Being LDS requires diligence and effort as a community. We visit each other as part of a calling, and we try to serve one another whenever we can. Service is my favorite part of the gospel. I have never been full of more joy than when I am in the service of my fellow being.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Natilee
This is my favorite part about the gospel: what we believe about families. I love my family and I think that the mercy of Heavenly Father would not plan for us to be apart. We believe that in the Temple we can be sealed for time and all eternity to our parents, spouses, siblings, and children. Families are a major portion of the gospel because we believe in helping and serving one another. We believe in connections and communities and the unity that service to one another provides. Families are an extension of all of that. We rejoice in our posterity and try to love each other with all we have. Show more Show less
