Hi I'm Miranda

I was born in Salem, Oregon. I read, study and write literature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved books. They were always where I could find solace, instruction, depth and entertainment, depending on what I needed. Mostly they fostered a love of words and expression which drew me to other art forms. I also sing and am active in my college Theatre department. My major is Literary Analysis, which is a good fit for me. Classes are fun and immersive and life can't be that bad if I can read a book and get credit for it!

Why I am a Mormon

My major (and general disposition), is very applicable to my study of the scriptures. Analysis is essentially taking an idea and bring it to its simplest form and application. This is how it can be used to teach others. It's getting into the author's head and finding what they were trying to tell us. Or what they could tell us if you were to look at the work from a certain perspective. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are full of authors who had a message they wished to deliver. To analyze the work and put it in its simplest terms: It's about Christ. It's about the example we're supposed to follow, and why we are so blessed and so loved, that no matter what we've done that we can regret, we can move on and do better. It helps me recognize who I am. I am a child of God, and He has loved me for so much longer than I can remember. He's loved EVERYONE. And He loves me, individually. He knows me and knows what I could be. I just have to be the person He knows. The Scriptures give me the clues on how to do that. I just need to analyze them as eagerly as any great book.

How I live my faith

Well, for the next 18 months I'm going to be a pretty active participant in the LDS church. I'm going to be serving as a full time missionary, for a space of time, and my days will literally be lived to serve others and God. I'm going to be a teacher, a servant and hopefully a good one of both. I love going to church and I've been a teacher, I've led music and I've held leadership positions in the Women's organizations. I've planned activities and Youth events. I've felt the warmth of the spirit and I've laughed with friends and life has been good. Now it's time to do that 24/7 and try to help others feel the same.
