Hi I'm Joyce

I'm a retired high school teacher; I'm a grandmother of 9; I love to travel; and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a retired high school business ed teacher, and I'm a grandmother of 9. I love to travel and was fortunate enough to take 5 or 6 of my Bucket List trips in 2012. I am leaving on a mission to Manchester, England, and I'm tremendously excited for this wonderful opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a sixth-generation member of the church. My pioneer ancestors joined the church shortly after it was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith, and this has been a great blessing in my life. However, I truly feel that had I not been born into the church then I would have found this church because I believe so strongly in its teachings--especially the fact that the true priesthood of God was restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I love the church's emphasis on the family, and I am grateful that there are over 130 temples in the world today where families can be sealed together forever.

How I live my faith

I have always loved attending church, and I love reading the scriptures. I try my best to live God's commandments every day. I want to be a wonderful example to my children and grandchildren so that they will want to follow God's commandments as well. Whenever I am given a calling or an assignment at church, I follow through because I believe "my word is my honor." I always try to be someone others can count on to accomplish their assignments. I became a church indexer in March, 2012, and I enjoy indexing census records, immigration records, etc.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We do not have a paid clergy because our church is patterned after Christ's church as described in the scriptures. Jesus and His Disciples went about preaching "without purse or script." Show more Show less
