Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Utah. I love to the outdoors. I quilt. I'm about to serve a mission in Mississippi. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with a crafty mom and have taken on sewing and quilting, which I love. I have a blog that i update frequently about lessons I am learning in life. I am a student in college and almost have my associates degree. I want to be a nurse someday. My favorite color is yellow. I love the solar system and stars. If i have time to spare i love to watch NASA documentaries and other things about outer space.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to grow up in the church, so I didn't have to look to far to find it. But I still had to be converted to it myself. I remember one day I was feeling so lost with all of the different messages I was receiving in the world. I remember walking into school and thinking about the different commandments and feeling an overwhelming feeling that the commandments are not restrictions, they are setting me free. I am so grateful that my life has been able to be full of so many opportunities because I have realized this about the commandments. I have never been addicted to substances, and I have always known my purpose in life. I have had minimal guilt and live a life full of happiness and peace. The world is continually falling apart and black is turning to white and white to black. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me complete direction and I can know of a surety what is right and wrong. I promise the Lord every day to live my life in the best way possible. I promise to live His will. My life is beyond blessed because I have the gospel in my life and in the lives of my family members.

How I live my faith

I teach the young women in our ward between the ages of 14-15. It is wonderful! I love seeing the hope that shines from such young people. I am going to serve a mission in a little over a week in Mississippi. I will leave my family to share the gospel with others. I am a visiting teacher to 3 other women in my ward. They are some of my dearest friends. I love all of the members of my ward family.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Laura
I have wondered about this issue a lot in my life, but the more i study and learn, i feel completely equal to the men who hold priesthood. To me, it's like a man asking a woman "why can't i have a baby?" it's just not what they were made to do, but that doesn't mean that the man can't be a father. Women do not hold the priesthood, but that doesn't mean that we don't partake of all the blessings that it has to offer. We are with the men in all decisions. We hold important leadership positions. The women hold a crucial role in the church, without them (as with without the men) the church could not stand. We are so blessed to have the restored priesthood on the earth, and to be able to all partake of its blessings! Show more Show less
