Hi I'm Sydnee Jones

I like to wake surf, but I'm not very good at it. I love to be happy, which I'm really good at. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old, and I am a senior in college. That may sound crazy, but in high school I was able to do a program called Running Start and I got my AA when I graduated high school... So no. I'm not a super genius, but you can call me that if you want! I love any activity that involves water, especially competitive swimming and boating. In high school I decided to join the girl's swim team on a whim and made it to districts every year, and even made it to state as an alternate my senior year. I love to knee-board, wake surf, tube and wake board with all my heart, so it's a good thing I grew up living by a lake so I can keep practicing and actually get good someday! My all-time favorite thing to do is laugh. I strongly believe in the power of happiness and I live by the motto that a smile can change a life. I am currently serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I feel so blessed to be able to serve the children of God all around the world, and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given to be a missionary at age 20. I don't find myself to be an extraordinary person and I live a pretty normal life, but I enjoy helping people each day to see how extraordinary they are to me and to our Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church, but that doesn't mean that I just blindly accepted it because it's what my parents were doing. I've had my struggles in life, and some truly hard trials of faith. There was a time that I wasn't sure about anything in my life, depression was constantly eating at me, I felt lost and I didn't want anything to do with the church. It got to the point that I just wanted to run away from home because I didn't understand what I was feeling, and I thought that if I ran away I could start over and these feelings of doubt and sadness would stay behind with my family. I finally realized that my true battle was within myself, and I can never run away from myself. I needed to know if this church is true or not, because if it is, then I knew I would find peace through it. I decided to finally pray and to tell my Heavenly Father that I needed to know, and that I was willing to do anything to get there. The warmest feeling came over me, and for the first time in a long time I didn't feel alone. Peace had come into my life, and there is no way that I am ever going to let this go. That's why I'm a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I know it's true and I cannot deny it.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is simple. In fact, it's easier than to not live my faith. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are taught that we are never alone, that we have a loving Heavenly Father who truly cares for each of us. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins and because of that I always have someone to go to who knows exactly how I am feeling. Christ suffered everything that we have gone through individually, and He knows us. Because of all this and more, I am able to live my faith through my smile that I love to share with others each day. I pray daily for guidance because I am never alone, and I read my scriptures for inspiration. Some people think that it's hard to be a Mormon, but I find that what others think is complex actually simplifies my life, and I love it.
