Hi I'm Jake Robert Jarman

I grew up in Northern California. I attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love my family and friends. Having two brothers, two step-brothers, a sister, and two step-sisters between the two families that I am apart of has been a true blessing. With my family, and also competitively, I love participating in sports of all kind. I also love to sing. My lovely mother passed on her wonderful musical talent to her children, and we enjoy singing, playing instruments, and listening together. As of now, I am attending college with the goal of graduating with a degree in Finance and minoring in the Spanish language. I also plan on serving a two-year mission for my church. I have been preparing, and have been called to leave on November 20, 2013 to serve in Novosibirsk, Russia.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the this church for my entire life. My parents were, and are, strong members who have set great examples for me. However, I have needed to gain an assurance of the truth of the Church for myself. Now that I am out of the house and studying on my own at a university, I have the opportunity to gain this testimony of the truth about the Mormon Church. Through studying the Bible, Book of Mormon, the words of my church leaders, and fervent prayer to the God that I have always known as my creator, I have gained the knowledge that Christ is the Savior of the world. He is my Messiah and he has given me the opportunity to live and learn. He has established His church on the earth through his prophet Joseph Smith, and I have the immense blessing of being apart of it. However, I would have to say that the two strongest points of truth that I lean upon in this Church are these; First, service to all people. I cannot imagine a religion that claims to be the truth about a loving creator that does not focus on the building up and service to all of his children. Second, the strengthening of the family unit. Despite the struggle that my family has been through, the church has been constant. We believe that families are forever, and after this life, I want to be able to spend eternity with those who I have struggled with and loved with all my heart. These two beliefs are among the many things that fortify my testimony that this church is the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Through my church, I have the opportunity to serve my fellow man. I attend services while at school every week and also participate in weekly activities with all of those who I attend with. My calling, or specific role, is currently that of a full-time missionary. I have been called to serve in the country of Russia for the space of two years between 2013 and 2015. I am in the service of my God as I strive to teach people in a land far from my home about this gospel of happiness. I love my Heavenly Father for giving me this opportunity to spread that joy. I cannot think of a better way that I can live my faith other than setting aside time in my life to fully devote myself to His service. I pray that I can make some of His children's lives more fulfilling by bringing them to the knowledge of their God who loves them!
