Hi I'm Gretchen Brock

I love shopping, volleyball, and the outdoors. I served a mission at Temple Square, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the third child in a family of five. I love everything that has to do with the outdoors; hiking, camping, boating, you name it! I have played almost every sport imaginable, but have especially fallen in love with volleyball. I served an 18 month mission for my church at Temple Square and in San Antonio, Texas. And I am now going to BYU preparing to apply to a dental hygiene program!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I found happiness in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I found that there is no satisfactory substitute to the gospel, it is only through the Gospel that we can have true and lasting happiness. I haven't always been an active and converted member of the church, I went to church once in a while, but at the time it was not a priority for me. Until a few years ago when I began to have some hardships in my life that I couldn't handle on my own, I had to rely on my Savior Jesus Christ to help me through them. Through those experiences I was able to grow in desire, knowledge and testimony of this Gospel. The gospel, very quickly, became my number one priority and desire in my life. I found that by living Christs teachings, I was able to more fully recognize God's infinite love. I am grateful to be a member of the church, and to have been able to see the difference it has made in my life.

How I live my faith

My life is defined by my faith. Everything I do, or don't do, is because of what I know to be true. Currently, I am serving as a missionary at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Here I have the opportunity to share with people all around the world about the beliefs of our church. I wouldn't be on a mission if I simply believed this church was true; but because I have had that conviction I am here. I love this church more than anything, and I am so privileged to be able to share that with everyone I meet here at Temple Square.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Gretchen Brock
We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by reading, living and applying His words in the scriptures. The purpose of the scriptures is to build our faith in Him and gain a stronger personal witness of His reality. Through his prophets in the scriptures, He reveals to us how we can come closer to Him: Alma 32:42-43 42 And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the word in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and pure above all that is pure; and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst. 43 Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you. And as we each nourish ourselves with the good word of God, we will draw closer to our Savior, and we will be filled with the love of God immensely in our lives. It is my personal witness that these things are true, and that they bring more joy than anything in this world. Show more Show less
