Hi I'm Hunter Gene Fisher Williams

I was born in Ohio and raised in Utah. I'm on a Spanish speaking mission to Boise, Idaho. I am a missionary, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi my name is Hunter Williams. I am 19, and am excited that I am serving a Spanish speaking mission to Boise, Idaho. I was raised for most of my life in Utah but a little before I came on my mission I lived in Arkansas for 3 years. Talk about a change of climate. I've been home-schooled K-12, and I wouldn't change that for anything. I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters. I've had one semester of college at BYU, which I loved, and I only stopped to serve my mission. I intend to return to school once I'm finished with my mission. While at BYU I was on the Folk Dance Team and loved competing in Ballroom dancing as well. My ambition is to become a doctor/writer of fiction books. In my spare time I like to go sledding, bowling, play volleyball, read, make balloon animals and build with legos – remember I have 5 younger brothers. I love camping and hiking, but swimming is my favorite thing to do. I was a lifeguard in Arkansas for a year- which i loved. I love scouting. I’m an Eagle Scout, and my favorite merit badges have been camping, hiking and wilderness survival.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have been active in the church my whole life. Many of my ancestors knew Joseph Smith and joined the church back in his day. I am thankful that they were willing to listen to and recognize the truth. And I’m thankful to all those ancestors between them and me who have stayed true to the faith. Over the years I have gained my own testimony of the Church that it is true. I have prayed for myself to know if The Book of Mormon is true and have received a witness for myself that it is. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored the one true church of God on this earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet, and that the Lord speaks to him and guides his church through him today. I know that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and that He died so that I would be able to live again. I know that it is through Him that I will be able to return and live with my Heavenly Father again someday. I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that He always hears and answers my prayers and that He always wants what is best for me.

How I live my faith

One of the big ways I am living my faith is by serving a mission for 2 years, which I am still doing. During this time have been able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people and help bring them to closer to Christ, and i have the opportunity to share the same joy that the gospel has brought into my life with others. This has brought me so many blessings and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have always tried to live my faith by being an example to my brothers and sisters and to others around me. I do this by always trying to live the teaching of the gospel. I think a big part of living the faith, which also strengthens my faith, is always going to church and serving in church callings. I loved going to seminary (which is where youth 14-18 study the different standard works of our faith: The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine & Covenants & Pearl of Great Price). It was challenging to wake up so early and to go to seminary before starting the school day, but it was well worth it because of the spiritual light that I gained. Perhaps the greatest way I try to live the gospel is through service. I love helping with service projects and simply helping people in general.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Hunter Gene Fisher Williams
Yes. Mormons do believe that the Bible is a holy book composed of the writings of ancient prophets. I have read the Bible several times and I never get tired of doing so because of the spiritual stories that it has and because of the way I feel whenever I read it. I know that by reading the Bible I can grow closer to God. I feel the same way when I read The Book Of Mormon. I know that it to is a true history of a people who lived in the Americas and of their beliefs and teachings of the gospel. I know that both books testify of each other and that it's only when we read both books that we can have the fullness of the gospel. Show more Show less
