I always love a good laugh and am always trying to find ways to make life happier. I love my family with all my heart and wouldnt be where I am today without them! I am obsessed with Josh Groban music. I love frozen yogurt and cereal. I am proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have a burning testimony of this gospel and cannot wait to share it with the people of Japan. I love my heavenly father. My name is Madalyn and I, am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I know it to be the true church on the earth today. You may ask why I know it to be true and I can help you understand why. I know this chruch to be the true church of God because the Spirit of the Lord has helped me come to know the knowlege of the truth. When I was a sophomore in high school, I developed the disease of Anorexia Nervosa and became very sick. I remeber feeling so lost and kind of confused at what I should do with my life. I remember in my seminary class one day we were talking about the temple and how we can go there and be away from all of the worldly things and my sweet seminary had tears flowing down his face. Being a witness of this, I came to realize that I am not ever alone and that God will help me through any rough times including my sickness. I made a slow and very difficult recovery from this disease and I knew that Heavenly Father was the one that helped me through it all! and that I was NEVER alone. Having my mission call now, I look back and have realized that I am still alive and well for a reason, and whatever reason that may be I know that it will be of great worth! I am a Mormon because I know this gospel to be true and I will live and share it now and throuhout my life!!!

How I live my faith

How I live my faith. Well, I live my faith by doing the plain and simple things. I love and accept every person that I come in contact with. I give someone passing me in my car or on the street a simple smile and let them know by that smile that everything is going to be o.k. I encourage others to read their scriptures more often. I am a good example by not using bad language, staying worthy to enter into the temple, attending all of my church meetings, reading my scriptures every day and smiling. I LOVE to encourage people to pray more often and talk with their father in heaven. I have sacrificed my dancing career to be put on hold while I go out and serve my heavenly father as a Missionary:) That was the most difficult decision I have ever made; but I know that because of my sacrifice, great things will come. I cannot wait to serve the many people of Japan and introduce them and bring them to His gospel. I have a burning testimony of His gospel and I am more than willing to share that testimony to anyone who needs to hear it. Most importantly, I love my Lord and Savior and I will do anything to keep myself worthy and clean to stand blameless before God at the last day!!

What is being a Mormon like?

Madalyn Deklerk
Most ask me, Mads what is it like to be a Mormon? Sometimes this question kind of throws me off because I have grown up in the church and have always done the things I was taught. For example: Going to church every Sunday, reading my scriptures each night, praying every morning, mid-day and night, attending all chruch activites, receiving my young womanhood recognition, going to seminary and now getting ready to serve a mission in Japan. To explain to one who isnt a member and asks me what it is like to be a Mormon, I simply say; it is pure happiness and joy. Along with this happiness and joy comes great sacrifice. There is no drinking coffee. No going shopping or doing any physical activities on Sunday. Paying 10% of your income to the church. Dressing modestly and much more according to all of the worldy things. But in the end, it is ALL worth it!! Being a Mormon= Peace, Joy, Happiness and Love. Show more Show less
