Hi I'm Jessica Rice

I'm an oboist and pianist, I lived in Brazil as a foreign exchange student, I love my family and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Since I was really little I have always loved music! I grew up listening to Barry Manilow and Van Halen with my dad. I started playing the piano when I was 7 and playing the oboe when I was 13. Since, I have had the opportunity to play the piano and the oboe in various venues and with many different people! It's so fun to be able to share my talents with others because I know that music can lifts spirits, and can brighten anyone's day! My junior year of high school, I decided that I wanted to be an exchange student! I am an adventurous person and I love to experience new things and I love learning about cultures and traditions all over the world! I went to Campo Grande, Brazil and I fell in love with the people, culture and language there! I stayed for a year with three different host families. I miss Brazil so much and I can't wait to go back and visit my friends and host families in Campo Grande!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the Church and so I was "raised Mormon." But eventually I had to make a decision or whether or not I wanted to continue living the gospel for the rest of my life. I didn't always know that it was true. Despite what I had always been taught, sometimes doubt would creep into my heart. Finally I had to search my heart and decide what I truly believed in. I found after study, prayer, and pondering that I really do know that what I have learned in the Church all my life is true. I know it's true because it has made me happy, it has blessed my life, it has made me a better person, it has made me better than I would ever be without it. I remembered all of the blessings that God has given me throughout my life and who He has helped me become through my trials and challenges that I have faced. I couldn't have made it through some of the trials I have had without the gospel in my life. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It makes me happy. It brings peace, comfort and purpose to my life. I want to share this knowledge and how I feel with everyone!

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church! As a teenager I was able to serve in a few leadership roles in my classes at church. I was able to serve the other youth in my neighborhood and help them grow closer to Jesus Christ. I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church in Tempe, Arizona! There is no greater joy than to serve others and help them find faith in God!
