Hi I'm Colby

I'm a Genteman, Kansan, owner of my favorite dog Cassie, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Kansas into a fun and loving family. I've always enjoyed being outdoors and exercising religiously. I am still in awe that the Kansas City Royals won the World Series last year! That's something my Dad, brothers, and I really enjoy. Throughout high school I didn't play any sports. My time after school was mostly consumed by lawn mowing. When I was young my brothers and I started a lawn mowing business that stands to this day. Through those years I've developed a good work ethic. I've always looked up to my dad for the hard worker he is. I couldn't ask for a better Mom and Dad who love me through anything. When I was 18 I set out to serve a full time mission for my church. I was called to serve in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. I reflect on my mission almost everyday. It was an experience that has shaped my life. I am very passionate about my faith because of the joy it has brought to my life and the testimony in my heart that tells me it's true. I am anxious to share what I believe to those who want to listen. I almost forgot, I love my dog! Her name is Cassie. She's my big, furry friend. I miss getting to see her everyday since I've moved from Kansas to Idaho. For the past 10 years now she's given one of many reasons to smile everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

First things first. My parents are mormon. And ever since I was born I would go to church with them every Sunday. Not only did we go to church, but my parents would teach us the gospel in our home. By reading the scriptures to us, singing hymns together, and praying as a family. Our home was a place the spirit could be felt. I am very blessed to have grown up in that environment. I'm 21 now and still Mormon! I haven't left. I could never imagine doing that. I haven't always been perfect. I've been through trying times. Made bad decisions, and had things happen to me that were out of my control. It's in those times that I had to make a choice. When I wasn't living the way my Heavenly Father would have me, I felt different. Not in a good way. I was sad, negative, and not to mention grumpy. Life wasn't fun. I missed the days when I didn't have a worry in the world because I knew I was living right. The difference between when I was happy compared to when I was sad was the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the warm, peaceful feeling we get in our heart. He confirms truth to us as well as resides with us when we are living worthy of his presence. I love having him with me. He is a gift from God. I am a mormon because I have true joy from keeping the commandments. As well as one more, very important thing. Like I said earlier, I grew up with the knowledge of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Along with the words of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. As a child I felt the peace the Holy Ghost gave me, telling me these things were true. But as I grew older and became more independent I could choose to go either way. I cannot deny the testimony I have grown over my lifetime. I have read God's word. I have shared it with other people. I've witnessed him keep his promises and bless my family and others. The Holy Ghost has borne witness to me many times that the Church of Jesus Christ is his restored church in these last days.

How I live my faith

My life revolves around my faith in Jesus Christ. It affects the things I think, say, and do. There is more to being a disciple of Christ than just believing. It comes down to how we live our lives. In the world we live in today, I have learned how vital it is that we steadfastly cling to the word of God and the commandments. I've made promises with God that I will follow his Son and always remember Him.
