Hi I'm Jordan Coker

I am a missionary serving in the Maryland Baltimore Mission. I'M A MORMON

About Me

I am taking General Education courses at the local community college. I hope someday to be an Information Technology Specialist for a hospital or business. I love my family and hanging out with my friends. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life. At the age of 9, my family went inactive. Dad worked on Sundays, and Mom had a hard time with 3 young kids at church. Once we were a little older, we decided we were going to church again. We decided, "If we go back we are going to go back hardcore!" And that we did. Now, I just received my mission call, and look forward to serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church. Everything in this church just makes sense to me. I continue to live the gospel, to keep myself out of trouble, also to bring others to understand why we do what we do. I have shared my beliefs with a couple of friends of mine, and they have found the church to be true for themselves. I love the opportunity to hear their testimony, and watch it grow. I am excited to share that with other people too! Being a member for my whole life, most people would assume that I have always had a testimony of this church. But I do not agree. There is a difference between doing something because you know you have to, and doing it because you want to. That point came to me when I was helping my best friend understand my church. The more I taught him, the more I wondered, "Do I really have a for sure knowledge that this church is true?" After pondering about a week, I decided to follow the council in the scripture in James chapter 1 verse 5, "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." God answered my prayer, and I actually knew without a doubt that this church was the true church that Christ had set up on the earth when he was alive. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for answering my prayer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in the church. In almost every activity, you will always see someone from my family. I also am responsible to teach the middle aged men in our church. It is a wonderful way to learn how to teach, and I usually find that I learn more by preparing lessons then if I was just listening. I have also participated as the president of my youth group and had to prepare and present principles taught in our church. I am also currently on a mission. Some teenagers from 18-24 volunteer two years of their lives to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. I am currently enjoying sharing the truth with others and watching them build their faith in Jesus Christ.
