Hi I'm Richard Roberts

I'm a football (soccer) player, a missionary, I love playing the guitar, it is my passion, and I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a freshman in college and am on a mission in Manchester, England. I love to play soccer and the guitar. I also enjoy meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been fortunate enough to grow up in the gospel. Because of this I have had many opportunities to see God's hand in my life and the lives of my friends and family. Since I was a little boy I have been reading the Book of Mormon and all other forms of scripture. From these, along with my own personal experiences, I've gained a firm testimony in my Savior. In this church I have learned of principles that can't be found anywhere else and have felt more comfort than any worldly thing can provide. If nothing else, this church makes me happy.

How I live my faith

As a youth I had the opportunity to be a leader several times in my church youth groups. Currently I am in Manchester, England serving as a missionary.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Richard Roberts
This church is not a new church. In fact, we believe it is the same church that Jesus Christ started when he was on the earth with all of it's original teachings and the same organization. So this church literally is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints". When Christ and his apostles died the church that Jesus started was no longer on the earth. And so we believe that in 1820 a 14 year old boy, Joseph Smith, had a question. Which of all of the churches on the earth is truly God's true church? And so after reading scripture and seeking guidance from his parents, Joseph knelt in a grove of trees and offered a prayer to God, our Heavenly Father. He recorded his experience in which he actually saw God and Jesus Christ. Joseph asked which church he should join. He was directed to join none of them because though many of the churches had truth, none of them had the whole truth. And Joseph was called, by God, to be a prophet in our day to once again restore the church of Jesus Christ. And so that is exactly what Joseph did under the direction of God. So ultimately, the "founder" of this church is God and Jesus Christ, but Joseph Smith restored it through God in our day. Show more Show less
