Hi I'm Craig Smedley

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been in hospital administration most of my career. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am retired from health care administration where I worked most of my career as a hospital administrator. I work primarily in small hospitals under 72 beds. I am the father of four wonderful children who are currently married and who are all living in different states in the United States. They are all married and have children of their own who are my grandchildren. They bring me great joy. My wife and I are now empty nestors.I have a tremendous wife and we like to travel to see and experience different parts of the world but most of the time we travel to see our family. I love to read history books and books that are history novels. I enjoy keeping up to date on world events and more particularly the events in the United States of America.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church. I had many people in my family who crossed the plains with the early LDS pioneers. So I have been a member all of my life. Even as a member I had to know if this Church is true. I learned it on my mission. I had been out a week on my mission and we taught a discussion to a family. As we taught that discussion, the spirit bore witness to me that what we were teaching was true. We taught that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and helped restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. We also taught that we have a living prophet that speaks to God and Jesus Christ today. That revelation from God is still available to us today. This is a reason why I am a Mormon. The Book of Mormon is so profound to me and it is another reason why I am a Mormon. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and it is a way for me to feel the spirit, learn the principles of the Gospel and it has helped me make decisions in my life. The temples are significant and another reason why I am a Mormon. I love my family and desire them to be with me in the eternities. The temple is a place where I can be sealed to my family forever. I just love that principle of the Gospel. I am a Mormon because, to me, it is the only why for salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven.

How I live my faith

In my life time I have been asked to serve in many different positions in the Church. I have always been a home teacher. Home teachers visit families that have been asigned to them on a monthly basis and help them as needed. I have usually had three families that are assigned to me and my companion. It has been a great experience to visit and become friends with those families. Another assignment i have had is to teach the 13-14 year olds with my wife. We taught for three years and really enjoyed those young teenagers. We developed a relationship with those young adults and we consider them our friends to this day. I have had the assignment to preside over a congregation as a Bishop in the Church. I got to know the members of the congregation and had a great amount of love for them. We did many activities that helped unite the members. One year we did activites around the theme of the Olympics. We had three legged races, wheel barrow races, and balloon throwing contests. They were great fun for the children and youth.
