Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Newbury England. I love to run. I am studying to be an elementary school teacher at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jessica and I am a college student at BYU studying Elementary Education. I love being with little kids and love that look in their eyes when something just clicks and they learn something new. I want to be that example and direction a child needs to believe they can follow their dreams and live a life full of happiness and success. I can't wait to be a teacher and be that guiding light for my students. I also love being active and outside! I played basketball and ran track all through high school and absolutely loved it! I also love hiking, soccer, ultimate frisbee, swimming, and tenis... pretty much all sports haha. I love country music and love to sing and dance obnoxiously all the time to the dismay of my roommates haha. I love food. Who doesn't right? I'm a sucker for ice cream especially cookie-dough... it's like a bit of heaven in frozen dairy form. I love to watch Grey's Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars with my roommates while we procrastinate our homework. But most of all I love spending time with my friends and family and I love them all so much!

Why I am a Mormon

I know that many of you are probably curious about this religion and may have many questions. I don't know if I can answer those for you, but what I can do is tell you why I am Mormon. This gospel gives me the greatest joy and happiness in my life and I honestly cannot imagine my life without it and knowing what I do. However, I didn't always have a strong as a testimony as I do now. I grew up as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the mormon church) and when I became a teenager I got a lot of grief for being Mormon. People would openly question my beliefs and make fun of me for what I believe in. It was really hard for a high school student who just wants to be accepted and blend in with everyone else. It really shook my faith and I had to really ask myself if this is what I really believed in, or if it was just what my parents believed in. I have always known growing up that I could pray to my heavenly father about anything and I used this opportunity to really ask God if the church was true. I prayed long and hard pouring out my heart to God begging him to help me know for myself if the gospel was true. Still on my knees beside my bed I immediately felt this wonderful feeling of peace and comfort and the thought that of course the gospel is true. I have always known it was true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I have prayed to my father in heaven asking him sincerely wanting to know with all my heart if this was really true. I received the same kind of feeling after praying about it and know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and the word of God. I promise that if you read the Book of Mormon and pray with real intent, wanting to truly know with a sincere heart if it is true, God will answer you and you can receive an answer for yourself. I know that God lives and the loves each and every one of us and wants us all to be happy and live with him in heaven again if we are righteous and make good choices.

How I live my faith

I am about to serve a full time mission for my church where I will be serving and helping the wonderful people of the Philippines as well as sharing my faith and the gospel of Jesus Christ with others.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, that he lived and is the son of God. It contains writings of ancient prophets who lived on the American contenant. God loves all his children no matter where they live on the globe so it only makes sense that God would give his children on other continents the same opportunity for salvation, happiness, and the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This book contains teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of his great atonement and hi love for all of us. It supports and verifies the Bible which is also another wonderful testament of God and his son. At the end of the Book of mormon, there is a promise for all those who read it fully and ponder its meaning and sincerely pray about whether it is true can know by the power of the Holy Ghost for themselves of its truthfulness.
