Hi I'm Kathleen Stuart

I'm a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend. I'm a crochet designer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mom and a wife! These two roles are ever changing! I have four wonderful children. I have loved playing, reading, hugging and all of the other fun things that moms do. I have been a marching band mom, a room mother, cub scout den leader, girl scout leader, classroom helper - lots of things to support my kids. Now that I am an empty-nest mother, I get to learn how to listen and support in new ways. I love to crochet! I learned to crochet when I was around ten years old. With this love of crochet and the love of creating beautiful things, I have become a crochet designer. I have sold many patterns to crochet magazines and books over the last 20+ years. My biggest inspirations have been my kids. I have made everything from teddy bears to afghans to mittens and scarves. I love giving my crocheted items as gifts- lots of afghans for newly weds and new babies. I also love sharing them with charity groups. My favorite afghans that I have made were individual afghans for each of my kids when the boys received their Eagle Scout awards and when the girls received the Young Woman in Excellence award.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and come from a long line of Mormons. I don't just go to church because my family did though. I learned a little here and a little there over the years and gained my own testimony. I remember when I read the Book of Mormon as a teenager and got down on my knees and asked if what I read was true. Such a calm, peaceful feeling swept over me, that I knew it was true. It is hard to describe really. This same feeling has come to me when I have prayed many times. I keep learning as I read the scriptures and pray. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. We will live again with our families and with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Our families can be together forever. I lost my son in 2010. I know that because Jesus Christ redeemed us and atoned for our sins, that I will be able to see my son again. I have one safely home and I want to live to be able to be more like my Savior and to see them in the future. I am a Mormon because I know that we are children of God and can become like Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow Christ's example. I like to smile at people and try to be friendly. I have found that serving others is a great way to be like Jesus Christ. I have helped in classrooms - everything from art to math to making copies or being the uniform mom for marching band. I have been able to help in special education classes and I have found that we all our children of God, even if we are different and being different is okay. Living my faith is being prayerful when life's challenges are hard and even when times are good. I share what I know about Jesus Christ and his love for us when I have taught children at church and visited with other families. Currently as a leader in Relief Society, our women's group, I have helped others in times of sorrow, because I have learned from my own grief and lots of prayer.
