Hi I'm Emily

I'm from North Dakota, currently a Spanish speaking missionary in Las Vegas, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in North Dakota was the best thing for me. There I learned how to work hard and enjoy being with family. Many of my memories are of being outside either playing sports or having a bon-fire with my family. I enjoy all sports, hiking and even music. Now I am serving as a missionary in Las Vegas. Although it is the complete opposite of home, all of my experiences have prepared me to serve!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the LDS faith I had been taught about Jesus Christ by my parents from a very young age. However, there came a point in my life where I had to seriously decide if I believed them and what they had taught me. I knew that I had always enjoyed going to church and believed that everything I had been taught was correct, but that could not be enough. My decision that the LDS church was true did not happen over night, but it happened after sincere prayer and studying of the Book of Mormon. Only after I invested my own personal study and contemplation was I able to know without a doubt that I believed what I had been taught. Knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and following it has brought me comfort and guidance in my life. I know that life will never be perfect but that it will be worth it in the end if I always strive to follow His example and do my best to live a Christ-like life.

How I live my faith

One way that I live my faith is by reaching out to those around me no matter what their religion is. Everyday I try to do small acts of service so that others will feel accepted and loved. The Savior's life was centered around service so that is why I think showing others I care is so important. For me, being an example to what I believe is the best way I exercise my faith.

In whom should we have faith?

We should always have faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Faith in Him means that we trust in Him and the plan that He has for us. Sometimes in life we don't understand why certain problems come; but when we have faith in Jesus Christ we trust in him that He hasn't forgotten or forsaken us. The reason why we should have faith in Him, is because only through Him we can gain forgiveness for our sins so that we may gain eternal life. He is the only one that could pay that price for us so that we may have live with our Heavenly Father again. That is why He is our Savior. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a belief that something is true. When I say that I would like to bear my testimony, it means that I would like to share my beliefs about certain things. For example I have a testimony that this Church is Christ's church here on the earth. He restored it through the prophet Joseph Smith and today we have a prophet as well. I know that Jesus Christ restored his church because He wants all of his children to have the truth. Our Savior is the ultimate example to us of love, kindness, humility and charity. And because of His sacrifice we may live again. This is my testimony(my beliefs) and I know these things are true because I have felt in my heart a confirmation from the Holy Ghost.
