Hi I'm Karen

I am bilingual. I am a student. I am a future missionary. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States shortly after the attack on the Twin Towers. I was an athlete in high school. I ran cross country and track. I played soccer, basketball, and even did a bit of cheer leading. I am now in college and I absolutely love it. I am a science major and I am hoping to be a dental hygienist. I love to read books while being curled up in a warm blanket. I love receiving letters in the mail and I love the rain. I like running and playing ultimate Frisbee. I love spending time with my big family and seeing how fast my little siblings are growing up. I love music and dancing. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converted to our faith long before I was born. However, I did not truly have my own testimony until I was 13 years old. When I was 13 years old, my father challenged my entire family to read the Book of Mormon before the year was up. I had never read it all by myself. I read parts of the Bible and the Book of Mormon while attending church but I had never sat down and read it all the way through. I took my father up on the challenge and began to read. It was pretty interesting and my parents believed it to be true. Finally, I realized that it wasn't enough to just read. I had to pray! I had to pray and ask my Heavenly Father if what I was reading was true. One night, I was alone reading in my basement. I decided to pray. I put the Book of Mormon down and got on my knees beside my couch. I prayed to my Lord and asked him if the words I read were true. I desired to know. I was filled with this wonderful feeling of peace. This warmth inside of me. And I KNEW that Heavenly Father had answered my prayers. The Book of Mormon was true and I knew it. That was the beginning of my testimony. I love this gospel. It has brought me nothing but true happiness and joy. I am so grateful for this church and for all the wonderful blessings that it brings. It is through this gospel that I can go back to live with my Heavenly Father forever. I will live a righteous life and await the day that I can live with Him once more.

How I live my faith

I love living my faith. The way I live it is by striving to serve others every day. I participate in my church activities and read my scriptures every day. I try to do the things that my Savior would do. This gospel is more than just attending church on Sunday. This gospel is about becoming the best person that you can be. And the way to become that person is to become like Christ. That is how I live my faith, I strive to be like Him each day. I have also recently made the commitment to become a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am going to sacrifice the next 18 months of my life and serve as a disciple of Christ in Brazil. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
