Hi I'm Adam Barnes

I'm a swimmer, construction worker, brother and friend to all. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm 18 year old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love this gospel and am excited to be serving a mission in February. People ask me why I want to serve a mission, the answer is simple. This gospel has only brought good in my life and has always helped me through the hard times. The greatest blessing I have is the knowledge that I will be with my family for all eternity. I know that we can be perfected through Christ. When you know something with such truthfulness, it's hard to think someone doesn't know this great message. It's heart breaking to think that there is someone who has lost a loved one and that they believe they won't be reunited with them.

Why I am a Mormon

There is NO other gospel that can compare to a gospel with such feelings of love, compassion and the true love and spirit of Christ. In 2011 I was diagnosed with viral meningitis. Previous to this I had been working on getting sub minute to my 100 yard freestyle in the swim team I was on. It started with I minor headache, until a week later. I awoke with a migraine that was immobilizing, I went to my parents room and from there to the doctor. My fever spiked to 107F and fluctuated between that and 109F. Before leaving the doctor and rushing to the emergency room, they gave me some morphine, that didn't even touch it. After arriving to the hospital, they immediately put me on and IV that was in a fridge. After a couple more doses of morphine I was still in agony and couldn't feel a difference. Then my grandpa and dad walked into the room and gave me a blessing. Even though I cannot recall the words of the blessing, As soon as they began the prayer, I felt a wave of peace and the love of god that took nearly all the pain away, shortly after my fever slowly decreased and I was able to sleep again. I KNOW that I was put through this trial for the purpose to be able to have empathy for others and to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Never had the spirit of god been so strong in my life. God's love for us is beyond description, I know without a shadow of a doubt, that this Church is true. I also know we can be perfected through Christ and his infinite atonement. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

I work construction, in doing this it can be hard to keep a mind focused on Christ, when surrounded by people who think little to nothing of the church. However, whenever I sing in sacrament wether in the congregation or for it, I feel the truthfulness of this gospel and couldn't agree with it more. While I may not be in any presidencies, I love the lessons and standards taught through the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Adam Barnes
The Family is essential in God's eternal plan of happiness. In the family, one can feel the spirit of The Lord also known as the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a spirit of happiness, comfort, love, compassion, excitement and many other great and marvelous things. The family is the central unit of society, the most basic things in any persons life. It's the means of bringing children into the world to be taught in a loving environment. While we can't choose the conditions of our birth, we can choose to help each other in our families throughout our lives. The family is organized so that we can learn and love with people that can be with us for eternity Show more Show less
