Hi I'm Melissa Lechner

I'm from Star Valley, Wyoming. I am a musician and a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Melissa. I love being outside, and had plenty of fun grewing up with my awesome 9 brothers and 3 sisters. They have always looked out for me and been my best friends. I love reading books, playing soccer, singing, playing guitar and piano, being a student, dancing, and meeting new people. Singing or playing in music groups has filled a lot of my time(bluegrass and jazz are my favorites :)). I am a college student in my second year of studying music, and have just received a mission call. I hope to go and help as many people as I can by sharing my beliefs with them before returning home to finish college, become a music therapist, and get married in the temple to the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is something I hold very dear to me. I was baptized when I was eight years old and have been active for the twelve years of my life since. I dearly love my Savior and wouldn't trade my knowledge of Him and His Atonement for anything. I find that I am happiest when my life is firmly centered around the Gospel of Christ. Knowing that I have an Elder Brother who sacrificed himself for me, and a Father in Heaven who is involved in and cares about the details of my life gives me confidence and an assurance that I am a loved Daughter of God. The truth of eternal families rings true deep inside of me, and I can't imagine life without the knowledge that I will be with my current (and my future) family members forever. The Book of Mormon is such a support for me in my life. The path that is laid out by the teachings of the scriptures keep my path so clear-cut and well-lit that I cannot logically follow any other. That is why I am a Mormon; because by living it I have gained a testimony that is it absolutely true and it sincerely makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being part of a community. By being kind to those around me and always trying to be there for people when they need a friend. I love playing the piano in church and being involved in the other activities throughout the week. Callings in the church have really helped me to be involved and meet new people, especially in college when I really didn't know anyone. I live my faith alongside my friends, and that makes all the difference for me. Whether they are members of this church or not, it's easy to let them be aware of my beliefs. Their support and openness help me to be a better person and always be strengthening my testimony that my Savior lives.
