Hi I'm Casey Harper

Hey! I grew up in Merced, CA. I'm currently about to serve a mission in Uganda, Kampala and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Well let's see here.. I'm 21 and i am about to serve a mission in Uganda! Which for those of you who don't know where that is, its in Africa! Previously to this I'm a student. I have taken 3 semesters at my local JC. I love to try just about everything. If i can put a creative twist on something then i will. haha I've been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints for about 3 years now.. man, i'm old. hahah I love this gospel and the wonderful people in it. I'm excited for this opportunity to give 2 years of my life on this earth to serve the people just as Christ did.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon. Hmm. Well one day back when i had just graduated high school, i was lying in bed looking up at my ceiling wondering what to do next with my life. Should I go to college? Get a full time job? Both?.. Neither?. As I was pondering these huge life decisions my mind kept wandering to something else, when i realized the thing my mind kept wandering to was my absolute best friend Dan and his family. Just a lil background story about them, I've known Dan and his whole fam for going on 13 years now and there were points that i basically lived there. So i basically have tons of memories with them. Anyways back to my story; I kept thinking about all of the good times i had with them, some memorable and others average but they all had the same thing in common Happiness. Which brought me to my next question, How can I be Happy like them? Well I thought awhile and this is what came to. I remember the church building they went to every Sunday, the scriptures they read every night as a family, the prayers they said before every meal. The arguments between children that always ended in quiet prayer in their rooms followed by somber hugs. hahaha It hit me how can I have that happiness?, Their Church!! That must be the key to their happiness! So after 10 years of my best friend Dan asking me to church and me saying "maybe another time" I finally decided to humble myself and asked him how i could learn more about this Mormon church. Well as you have read 3 years have passed since then and i'm well on my way to serving my mission, in fact i have a week from today until i leave. I couldn't be happier. My life has changed all because i decided to put my pride and ego behind me and listen to those two guys who ride around on bikes. haha I love the Gospel!, I love the people in it, I love the wonderful things we do, Take it from me. I know this church it true. I wouldn't be flying halfway around the world to Africa with only some scriptures and a name-tag if I didn't. :)

How I live my faith

I'm pretty involved in my local YSA Branch here in Merced. I'm the Sunday School Pres. as well as the HEG Pa and the Elders Quorum 1st counciler. Also a Branch Missionary too. haha I help coordinate our weekely events and activities for the branch. I'm also in charge of making sure our teachers have everything they need to fully teach our fellow ysa. When it comes to the Intricacy and Grandeur of the Gospel I try to see the "simplicity in the complexity". I kinda used big words there.. haha but hopefully you get what i mean.
