Hi I'm Tanon

I am a missionary in Washington state. Home made popcorn is good stuff. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First off, the Washington Federal Way Mission is way cool, I am totally honored to be serving the Lord here for two years. Let us all press on. I am proud to be a citizen of the U.S.A and of this beautiful earth. I believe that both are truly marvelous gifts that require our love and care. In my book it is the little things that really make a difference. Picking up just one piece of misplaced trash or choosing a reusable container can start a ripple that goes around the world. But you have to want it, we will only fight for the things that we truly care about. I grew up as # 3 in a family of ten kids. I loved it. Big families rock. I've been a ski instructor and a cheese trader, but my two favorite jobs have been, head instructor at a wilderness survival camp for youth and a conservation motivated tree planter. Some of the top things on my list are the outdoors, quoting epic lines from movies, and all night Axis and Allies games. I love learning and plan on doing some thing absolutely incredible, every single day!

Why I am a Mormon

2 Nephi 4:5 says "...If ye are brought up in the way you should go ye will not depart from it." I was born into the Church so it all started with my parents. But that only lasts so long. I think that really being a Mormon requires a personal choice and commitment. Because honestly, being an active member of the Church is not always easy or convenient. But it is worth every second. I made that choice to find out for myself. Testimony comes through the power of the Holy Ghost. I know because I have felt it. I have felt the truth and the Spirit that makes it all real. Each of us can know for ourselves. We are not encouraged in blind obedience nor just passively following. Rather we are told throughout the scriptures and in the words of modern prophets to find out for ourselves. We may not always understand, but it is our responsibility to seek to obtain a spiritual confirmation of the truth through the Holy Ghost. That is what I try to do in my life.

How I live my faith

Right now I have the unique opportunity of serving as a full time Missionary in the Seattle/Tacoma Washington area. I get to share the good news of Jesus Christ almost 24/7. It is incredible to experience firsthand what we are all commanded to do, just like the ancient apostles were in Mark 16:15 "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" Previously I have taught primary classes for kids ages 3-5 and 9-11. Teaching the doctrines of the gospel to children is a real responsibility and is so much fun. I also was able to be the secretary in the Elders Quorum( the group for men in the Church). I was able to learn a lot by rubbing shoulders with men who are really converted to the truth and show it by the way they live and serve in and out of the church All the rest of the time I guess I try to do like we are directed in St. Matthew 5:16, and shine the light that has been given to me.
