Hi I'm Alley Nielsen

I grew up in Utah. I am a convert. I am serving a mission in San Diego. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fifth of nine kids and I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Volleyball, longboarding, running and being active outside are just a few of my interests. Within the past few years I have completed two marathons and multiple triathlons. I love a good physical challenge! I attended a semester of college in Virginia where I studied philosophy and played volleyball. I am currently serving a full-time mission in San Diego, California, Spanish speaking. My family members are my best friends. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

Until I was nine years old, I did not have the Gospel in my life. Both parents fell away from the FLDS Church when they were first married, and, although my parents taught us kids valuable lessons about integrity and keeping the commandments, there was always something lacking in our family. After meeting consistently with the Mormon missionaries for the course of a few years, my family was baptized. The Spirit is much more abundant in the home now, which has made the biggest impact on my family. I cannot imagine how my life would be without the Gospel. I have seen the Gospel of Jesus Christ transform lives and save families. I long to see true joy in the lives of my extended family; a joy that comes only from being an active member of Lord's church. I am a Mormon because I know that the Church I belong to is Jesus Christ's true Church on the earth today and it is only through this Gospel that I can have complete access to Christ's atoning sacrifice. I did not always have this knowledge; however, I know now more than ever. I have witnessed healing and peace in my life since I have joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I could never deny its truth. I am Mormon and I would have it no other way.

How I live my faith

Service is how I live my faith. I was able to serve the women in my Young Single Adult ward in Virginia through acting as a councilor in a presidency. I got to teach, visit with, and get to know each girl in my ward, which strengthen my love and friendship with them. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Brooklyn, New York with a group of Saints and give aid and relief to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. We assisted with anything and everything that we could - breaking down damaged walls, removing floors, rescuing valuables, and comforting the afflicted. My heart broke for those people, but I know that our Father in Heaven was very aware of them. Another way that I live my faith is by serving as a full-time missionary. The missionaries that brought the Gospel to my family blessed us immensely. Because of this Gospel, my family has been strengthend, we are more united, and we can be together for eternity. This knowledge and testimony gives me hope and a sense of security and, naturally, I want to share that with other families so that they can also enjoy these same blessings. As a missionary I am merely a servant for the Lord, completing the errands that He has sent me on.
