Hi I'm Charles

I'm a husband, a father, a new grandpa, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from an LDS family and have three brothers and three sisters. I met my wife at a church activity when we were in high school. We were married soon after my mission service in Austria and Yugoslavia. The people there are very dear to me too. I actually get homesick for the "old country" on a regular basis. My high school sweetheart and I raised four priceless children and now have two grandkids. I have a small landscape architecture business in Southern California where I've lived most of my life. I'm fortunate that I really enjoy my job. Our family has done quite a lot of camping, mostly in Yosemite and Zion Canyon. We go to the movies, probably more often than the average family, and we like to discuss the finer points of the art. Now that the kids are more or less out of the house, we've taken up kayaking as well, but we still do a lot with the family. The kids are all still living nearby. We hope they stay.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into an LDS famiy, the Holy Ghost has born witness to my soul that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the path to happiness in this life and the next, and that His church and priesthood have been established by Him through modern day prophets. I'm extremely grateful for the joy these things have brought me.

How I live my faith

Besides my missionary service, I've been able to participate in a number of volunteer opportunities, such as nursery worker, sunday school teacher, church administration, youth group leadership, and most recently, teaching in early morning seminary. This is a class in religion for high school students every morning before school. It's extremely rewarding, and I'm constantly impressed by their enthusiasm and insights. It helps me have a fresh attitude toward life. In the community, I've been involved as a scoutmaster and in my local homeowner's association. My son and I have worked a couple of times at the nearby polling place. They've all been great experiences.
