Hi I'm Sawyer Nichols

I grew up in Georgia. I was called to serve in Brazil. I am serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest in my family of four kids. My family and I moved from Utah to Georgia when I was eight years old. After graduating High School in 2012, I attended school at Byu-Idaho with four of my best friends. There, I discovered my love for singing. I joined the University Choir at Byu-Idaho and enjoyed performing at the collegiate level. In October of 2012 I received my Mission Call to serve in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission for a period of twenty-four months starting in March of 2013. After experiencing troubles with a visa I was reassigned to serve in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but like most kids I relied on the testimony of my parents. It wasnt until I was in my teenage years that I had to discover for myself if the Church was true.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and I recieved an answer by the Spirit telling me that the Book of Mormon is true. I am a Mormon because I have been blessed to recieve this answer to my questions about if God really is there and if He can hear me when I pray. I know that He can. I also know that the Book of Mormon helps us draw closer to Jesus Christ more than any other book. I know that the plain and simple truth of the Gospel can be found in the Book of Mormon and that it truely was translated by the power of God through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have seen that when I choose to live the way the Lord has outlined in the standards of the Church that I am happier and I feel closer to Heavenly Father and I can feel His guiding hand in my life.

How I live my faith

After returning home from college I was asked to be a youth adviser for the young men aged from sixteen to eighteen. This calling gives me the opportunity to practice teaching as well as help boys that aren't much younger than me prepare for missions. This calling allows me to be an example and connect with the boys in a different way and most adults are not capable of doing. I live my faith by serving as a full time missionary. I get up every day at 6:30am and spend all day talking to God's children not because I have to, but because I love Him and I want to. When times get hard I have learned to rely on the Lord for help and He is always willing to extend His hand out to carry me through the trials of life. I just have to humble myself and ask for help.
