Hi I'm Chris

I'm from beautiful Utah Valley. I love singing and composing music. I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up with music in my home. I was singing before I could talk and reading music as soon as I could read books. I have two strong and dependable parents. My four younger brothers and I all learned from a young age that anything worth doing is worth doing right. All five of us can speak Spanish. I graduated from high school with nine friends at the top of the class, out of nearly 450 students. I am serving as a missionary in Spokane, Washington, USA.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church, but I had to find out for myself if it was really true, just as all members must do. In the two or three years before I left home, I began to question for myself if I really believed what I had been taught. While many of my peers, some of them my friends, had chosen other paths, I needed to discover the truth. I prayed many times to know if this church was true and each time I felt the confirmation in my heart that it is. I tested the teachings of the church's leaders out for myself, by reading in the scriptures and praying daily. I can testify that those actions improved my life dramatically. I can feel the difference when I surround myself with people and activities that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here.

How I live my faith

The first thing I do each morning is wake up early and study the scriptures. I don't smoke or drink. Instead I exercise regularly and eat wholesome, well balanced meals. I pray every day and ask God often if this church is true, and my answer is always yes! This church is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it!

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! We accept and recognize Jesus Christ as our Savior as the living Son of God. Through Him we can be saved and perfected, just as He was and is perfect. Jesus Christ is at the center of our faith and this is literally His Church - it's even in the name. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Show more Show less

What is faith?

To have faith is to believe/hope in something that you cannot see, but know is there. Faith motivates you to act, not simply believe. For example, our faith in the reality of Jesus Christ and His Gospel motivate us to go out and serve others, and spread the Gospel message. "Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things, therefore, if ye have faith, ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." (Alma 32:21) Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

God sometimes asks very hard things of us to test our faith in Him. In Biblical times, He gave multiple wives to prophets such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. In the 1800s, the Lord again gave this commandment to some of His servants. While we may not fully understand why that or other commandments were given, we choose to obey God's word. We do not practice polygamy anymore (see Official Declaration 1, https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/od/1?lang=eng ) Show more Show less
