Hi I'm Emily

I've grown up in many states across the US. I live with my wonderful family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student, and am loving this stage in my life. I enjoy a good book or a good movie and I love to laugh. I love to draw and play games and spending time with my family is the most important thing to me. Some day I hope to travel the world; I want to go to lots of different places and experience their cultures and befriend their people. There are so many wonderful things out there, and I want to see as many as I can!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother raised me as a Mormon. I always went to church and obeyed commandments, and I was grateful for my mother's example. However, I didn't know if I believed the church for myself. When I was fifteen years old, I was at summer camp, and while there in the mountains I had a very spiritual experience. I felt the gentle and tender, but very powerful and clear, Spirit of God telling me that the Mormon church was true. I was quite young, but I knew without a doubt that I had received revelation from Heavenly Father. From that time forward, I followed the teachings of the church with all my heart. I knew that the church was true, that it had been restored by Joseph Smith, that the Book of Mormon was true, and that Jesus Christ was the Son of God who Atoned for all mankind. I still follow these truths, and I strive with all my heart to apply them to my life and follow in the footsteps of Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in everything I do. I participate and serve in church youth groups, like the young women's program (a program dedicated to teaching and service). I am a visiting teacher, and I love when I can reach out to someone in need and help them. Church related things aren't the only place where I live my faith, though; I try to live my faith in every aspect of my life. I strive to live the standards of my faith at school, when I'm with my friends, and when I go out in public. I live my faith by being a loving, caring neighbour to those around me.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Emily
Our physical bodies are a precious gift from our Heavenly Father (God). Because they are so important and special, God gave us a law called the Word of Wisdom, which is designed to help keep our bodies and minds healthy and strong. This law is against the use of tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea, and illegal drugs. These substances are not healthy for the body, can inhibit the mind, and create addictions that are not good for us and that draw us away from God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Emily
We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God! We believe that he was sent to this earth, by God, in order to teach his gospel and preform the Atonement, which is the key to receiving salvation. Christ is at the centre of Heavenly Father's plan for us, His children, and without following Christ there would be no way for us to return to Heaven. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Emily
God is our Heavenly Father and He is constantly reaching out to us. He has provided many ways and opportunities for us to come to know him better. Some of these ways are through sincere prayer, through the scriptures (such as the Bible and Book of Mormon), and through the testimonies of the living prophets of the Mormon church. If you are sincere in your desire to know Heavenly Father, you will find that He will answer your questions and will be a part of your everyday life. Show more Show less
