Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in the gospel. I am going to Nairobi, Kenya on my mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 children. Sometimes that can be a little bit of a burden but I try my best and push forward. I love to ski and longboard. I spend most of my free time doing these activities with my best friends. I currently just finished my first semester of college, then the announcement on missions came and I am on my way to Nairobi, Kenya to serve the Lord for the next 2 years. I love business. After being involved in a couple of marketing projects I figured this is what I wanted to do with my life. I plan on going into International Business and Trade.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Utah sometimes makes it a little hard to gain your own testimony because you have so many others to lean on. Throughout high school I had some questions that were unanswered. Deep down in my heart I believed in the foundations of the church but I started to falter on some of the smaller things which eventually lead to bigger proportions. I started to realized that I really don't have my own testimony of the church. I was so torn about what to do with my life. I didn't seem happy at this point in my life. My family, friends, and even teachers could see this. I essentially started to push away anything that was a good influence in my life. As I learned when you take away light, darkness follows. I started making questionable choices. I had given up. I got down one evening, frustrated with my life and the way it was headed and I knelt down to my Heavenly Father (which I hadn't done in a while). I got up with a better understanding and determination of what I needed to do. I started to read my scriptures and say my prayers daily. After time and through certain experiences I began to gain my own testimony of this church. I still continue to grow my testimony and learn in the gospel, but what I can tell you is this. I know that this church is the true church upon this earth. God has made this known to me through my faith. I know that Joseph Smith was the first latter day prophet, and I know that he restored the true gospel to the face of this Earth once again. I believe that we have a Heavenly Father and Savior above that love us and watch over us in everything we do. I know that the current prophets are called of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, an addition to the bible as the words of Gods prophets of old. I love this church with all my heart. It is the only thing that brings me true happiness. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

It is important to live your faith through the callings you receive. I think the biggest fact of living your faith and really determining what kind of image you portray is based upon example. I live my faith through being an example to people around me and trying to be kind and loving as Jesus Christ would. I love helping others. During high school I participated in a Youth Court that essentially got young people that messed up back on the right path. The feeling of helping just one person change their life for the better is such an amazing feeling. As I prepare to serve a mission in Nairobi, I have come to the realization that being a missionary isn't just a two year en devour, being a missionary is a life long obligation to our Heavenly Father.
