Hi I'm Elise Sellers

I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, I love to read, I love to write and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in Knoxville, TN and I am so excited to be serving the Lord and the people here! I like to read, I write stories, I quilt, have fun with friends and do puzzles. I will go to college when I get back from my mission. I am planning to study interior design at BYU-Idaho next January. I have four brothers and one sister, I try to live my life in a way that they can look to me as a good example for them. More than anything in the world, I want them to all be happy, and I know that the knowledge I have of Christ's restored gospel is the thing that has brought me the most happiness!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a strong LDS family and was baptized at the age of eight. I chose to be baptized because it felt like the right thing to do. Later, as I read the scriptures more and went to seminary, I began to really see how it all made sense. I always felt that the Book of Mormon was true, but I still had to pray about it to know for sure. As I prayed, I felt so peaceful and happy. I know that this was the Spirit of God testifying to me that the things I had read and learned were eternal truths. The knowledge of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon is my most prized possession. It is something that no one can take away and it is the one thing that will always be constant among all the things that can change and be taken away in life. From regular communication with God through prayer, I know that my purpose her on earth is to be the best that I can be so that one day I will be able to return to the presence of my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving the Lord in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I spend every day sharing the message of the restored gospel with people here in my area. We set aside a couple hours every morning to study and prepare to follow the guidance of the Spirit. My responsibility in the church right now is to serve the Lord and to teach His gospel as a missionary. I am so excited to share with others the one thing that has made my life meaningful and important. Every day we go out and find people who the Lord has prepared to hear the message of the restored gospel and that we have a living prophet on the earth today.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Elise Sellers
We all learn little by little. We begin by learning basics and then gradually learn things that add to what we know. Attending church is one of the basic principles and after a certain amount of time, we will be given the next principle; the temple. The temple is a place where we can learn more about God and his plan for us. We cannot see the whole picture when we are still learning the basics, but as we are faithful and continue to learn and grow in the gospel, more of the details will come and Heavenly Father's plan will make sense.
