Hi I'm Thomas Barraclough

I grew up in a few different places across the country. I love puzzles that make me think. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in a few different places across the country. My Dad is a professor of Interpersonal Communications so we have moved around as he goes to teach at other schools. I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Soon after, we moved to Morgantown, West Virginia and lived there for 8 years. Then we moved to Flagstaff, Arizona and were there for 4 years. Since then we have lived in La Grange, Kentucky. All through school I have loved math and science classes. My favorite class ever has to be AP Physics because physics uses lots of math to figure out why things work in the world. I love math because there is always and answer you can find, you just have to know how to find it. I am going to the University of Louisville and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I love puzzles, especially jigsaw puzzles. For Christmas one year I did a 3000 piece puzzle in 3 weeks. I love seeing a pile of chaos and turning it into a masterpiece. I worked for 2 years at a high performance auto parts distributor called Premier Performance. I loved my time there, no matter how stressful the busy days seemed at the time. I always felt like I made a difference because I always tried to make a difference. I'm an Eagle Scout.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents have been actives members of this church their whole lives, so naturally, I grew up in it. Ever since I was a kid, I have been taught about Jesus Christ and His gospel. Admittedly, there were times when the church didn't mean a whole lot to me. I as going to church because my parents wanted me to, now because I wanted to. I was about to go on a mission to Georgia to teach others about Jesus Christ and I was going to speak in church. I was to speak about a talk given by David A. Bednar, one of the 12 apostles, in which he talked about testimony and conversion. It struck me hard, because I had a testimony that this church is true, but I wasn't converted to His gospel. I was just going through the motions instead of really following Jesus Christ. I knew that that needed to change. Once I committed to give my all to Jesus Christ and His church, things started to click. Things that I had known my whole life suddenly made a whole lot more sense. Being on mission, the scriptures mean a whole lot more to me. I know that the Book of Mormon was written for us in our day and that it will help us in any troubles we may be having. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and that through him, the true church of Jesus Christ was restored to the Earth in it's fulness. I know that everything this church teaches is from God and it will point us to Jesus Christ, our Savior. I know that if we follow the example of Jesus Christ and His teachings, we will find true peace and happiness.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a 2 year mission in the Georgia Atlanta Mission. Before I left I was a leader over the Sunday School teachers. I have served in disaster cleanup multiple times such as when there was a tornado nearby and we went to help people clean up their property. I have been in Scouting since I was a kid and I am an Eagle Scout.
