Hi I'm John W. Pendlebury

I'm a convert to the church, and found that I love the gospel and serving in the church.

About Me

I am a convert to the church, and have met a lot of great people as I have moved around the country. I was raised a Methodist, serving in the MYFwhen living in Anchorage Alaska. After high school (West Anchorage) I enlisted in the Navy as President Johnson held a call for volunteers. I finished as an ET1(SS) serving aboard the USS James Madison SSBN 627as a Reactor Operator. I obtained a NRC license to operate a commercial nuclear power plant, and this opened up my life work: as an instructor in Operations and Engineering. This job took me all over the United States, from Florida to Vermont to Washington, and a lot of places in between. In each job, my wife, kids, and myself attended the local, and had the chance to serve in a number of diverse callings, and having a lot of fun. In each ward I met a number of great people that held the same core beliefs as myself. I have never met such a high quality group of people.

Why I am a Mormon

I investigated several church when I was in High School, and found none that I could devote my life to, including the LDS church. I drifted away from organized religion in the navy. In time, I waas stationed in Idaho Falls Idaho, and lived in Pocatello. There I met a Latter-Day Saint girl that lived up to the standards I believed in. After finding out about the church, I have attended since my baptism in June of 1977.

How I live my faith

Being a Latter-Day Saint is not just a Sunday proposition, it is a culture if you do it properly. Each of the basic things you do helps you become a good Saint, but by doing them all you get the greatest effect. Paying tithing, home teaching, scripture study, pryer, serving in calings all bring joy not only to yourself butto others as well.
