Hi I'm Mikayla Kent

I love to laugh. I have a passion for writing, truth-telling, and discovering personal histories. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music of all kinds. Singing in the car, dancing in the kitchen, and laughter; lots and lots of laughter. As the 3rd of 4 children, I have really enjoyed being an aunt to a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old who bring a lot of fun to life. I've been on a 50 mile hike and love the beautiful outdoors in Washington. I spend my time quilting, reading as many books as possible and participating in light-hearted bantering with family and friends. I attended BYU-Idaho and I loved it! I was working on a bachelor's degree in Communications, with an emphasis in Journalism. Right now I am taking a break to serve the people in the Nebraska Omaha Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have received many witnesses of the divinity of Jesus Christ through the Holy Ghost as I have read the Book of Mormon. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have been able to gain a better understanding of our Heavenly Father's love for each of us and of the sacrifice of His Son. It is this love that has helped me to know that I am a daughter of God, a part of an eternal family, and that he wants nothing more than for us all to return to Him again. I have gained a lot of strength from family histories detailing the faith of my ancestors. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that He has restored His church upon the earth again, and I know that He leads His church through his servant the prophet. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that anyone can receive a witness of these truths by searching the scriptures and asking the Father, believing that He will provide an answer.

How I live my faith

As a member of the young single adult group at BYU-Idaho I was able to participate in indexing (typing up names on census lists, etc. for family history purposes). I was also able to be a group family home evening leader, which meant organizing group activities once a week and planning a lesson to strengthen faith and create unity in the group. These activities have helped me realize the importance of reaching out in love to those around me. My participation in church choir has been a big part of my life all growing up. It is through the songs we sing that I am able to testify of Christ and keep the spirit close to me in my life. A couple months ago I had the opportunity to teach the 5 year olds in Primary, and it was a miracle to see how special their spirits are to the Lord. Now I am living my faith by serving a mission for the church and inviting others to come unto Christ through the restored gospel.
