Hi I'm Caelyn

I was born in Panama and I love to play basketball. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

My father was stationed in the Panama when I was born and from there we moved to Fort Meade, Maryland where I lived until I was 5. I loved the eastern states. We moved to Utah when I was 5 and a few years later my family was involved in a roll-over accident. It changed me. It changed us. I had a little sister who was killed in the accident and that loss redirected my thoughts to what was really important in life. Family. Words cannot express the feelings that follow the death of a close family member. The only thing you do know for sure is that you want to see them again. This gospel makes complete sense. This gospel is true, not only because it makes sense, but because it focuses on the fact that families can be together forever and that we conitnue to progress and become better people

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel but I did not always follow the teachings.I had a testimony but I was not valiant for the cause. I wanted to do what I wanted to do and I certainly did not want to be responsible for my actions. I used to be heavily involved in drugs. During that time I tried to push what I had learned out of my mind so that I could feel more comfortable living my life wrong. I wanted to believe that the church was false so that I could feel better about falling short of what I knew to be true. Sadly, some people succeed in this. I have many family members who have fallen away because they chose the things in the world, rather than to try to control themselves. They continue to live the way they want to live and give excuses or blame others rather than admitting that it is their own weakness. This gospel is about self-mastery. It is difficult to choose what is right because often choosing what is right takes more effort. My choices early in life lead to my drug use and addictions. I constantly chose the easy route to the point where it was easy to say yes the first time I was asked to do drugs. I had not practiced doing what was right and that is why I fell. I understand that we have our free-agency and God has shown us through his prophets and his son Jesus Christ the way that we are to live our lives if we want to be like him. We were given the freedom to choose how we wanted to live our lives, right or wrong. We were not given the choice to choose what exactly was right or wrong. If you pay attention, you will see that people tend to choose what they believe in order to conform with their bad-habits. What is the point in joining a spiritual congregation if you are not to progress? We have been given the word of God. It is up to us to choose whether we will live it or not. Christs atonement is for all of us if we so choose to follow him, but the atonement cannot save us IN our sins because he cannot infringe on our free-agency.

How I live my faith

Well I recently received a call to preach the gospel in the Dominican Republic. I will be 25 years old when I leave. In the beginning I was worried about time lost because I wanted to start a family. But I do not want to be a husband or a father without first becoming the man I know a mission will help me to be. There are certain characteristics that one simply cannot acquire any other way. Service is the only way to spiritually prepare to meet your father in heaven. We follow Christ because he was willing to give his life and suffer for us. What kind of person do you want to be? The type of person that is going to go out and buy his or herself a nice big truck? Or the type of person that would rather use that money to help others. These are traits that are acquired with practice. We do not dedicate ourselves to service for the outward appearance or praise of man, we do it because we want to become charitable within our hearts. In other words, We want to want to be charitable and to love each and every person unconditionally as our father in heaven loves us.
