Hi I'm Katlyn Brown

I'm a 19 year old college student at BYU-I living in the PNW and traveling the world. Future Piura Peru Missionary. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I live in the beautiful PNW otherwise known as Olympia Washington with my wonderful family. I am an only child but am lucky to have horses, a dog and a cat oh and lots and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. I have 2 jobs and I am working to save money for my mission. I have been called to serve in Piura Peru reporting Feb. 12th! I'm a gymnast and a former cheerleader. I love sports and everything that has to do with the outdoors. Hiking, camping, boating, swimming, backpacking, cliff jumping, rock climbing. I love music and playing music on the piano, ukulele and guitar. I love photography and capturing memories in the making. I love my family and my friends more than anything. I love my life and am thankful for all of my many blessings.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith is why I am Mormon. I have faith in Joseph Smith that he was called as a prophet to restore Christ's church on earth. I have faith that since then we call prophets who receive revelation from God to guide us in the latter days. I have faith that through the atonement we can return to our heavenly father again and receive the blessings of an eternal life with our eternal family. I know with all my heart, mind and soul that this is the true church. I have seen it bless my life and many others lives. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of it all and am eternally grateful to have the gospel in my life. I love being Mormon.

How I live my faith

I not only live my faith but I love my faith. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am not perfect, nor am I anywhere close. But as I live I strive to be more like my Heavenly Father. I do the basics of praying often, reading my scriptures daily, and attending church on Sunday and to other church activities as often as possible. I am blessed immensely by having the opportunity to attend the Seattle temple and by having institute and mission prep provided for me to attend. I have chosen to act on my faith and share it with others and serve a mission in Piura Peru.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Katlyn Brown
There are many ways we can come to know our Father in Heaven. First of all you have to have the desire to want to know him. Then once you have developed the desire you can act on it by getting a Book of Mormon and reading it. Of course it would be great to read it all the way through but that can take some time. Alma 32 is Moroni 10 are my all time favorite chapters if you don't know where to start. This will teach you about him and others who have grown to love him and learn of his teachings. But like any relationship communication is key. Try praying to him. We generally start with "Dear Heavenly Father.." and then go on to thank him for everything and anything we are thankful for and then we ask. If you want to get to know him, ask him to help you feel close to him. If you are struggling with something ask him not to take it away because he has a plan and a reason for every trial but ask and pray that he will help get you through it and comfort you. His love is endless and "if ye ask, ye shall receive..". As you read a pray your relationship will build. You'll feel his love for you and hopefully feel the desire to attend church to learn more about him. There is nothing better than having a relationship with your Father in Heaven. Through all the trials and tribulations you receive you build a relationship where you get blessings beyond imaginable and will feel an almost overwhelming happiness. I challenge you to read the Book of Mormon, or at least some of it and pray! Show more Show less
