Hi I'm Allen Parker

I was born and raised in Medicine Hat Alberta. I teach High-school Social Studies and have a beautiful wife and 4 kids.

About Me

I grew up in Medicine Hat enjoying the city with all of the wonderful things there are to do here. I grew up playing all kinds of sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, rugby etc. The outdoors was always a big part of our life with most of our summers being spent fishing a mountain lake somewhere and arguing about who caught the biggest fish. As a husband and father now we still enjoy sports with all of our kids actively involved in both school and community sport. We have blended our families summer activities which still include camping and fishing but now also include a lot of water sports at the lake as well. I am fortunate to have a great life. I work as a High School teacher, volunteer in the community and get to travel on occasion with my wife and/or family. Hopefully we will continue to get to watch our kids succeed in school and in sports and see more of the world as life goes on.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into the church of course had a lot to do with me being a Mormon but all of us at some point need to find out for ourselves if we truly believe in God, His son Jesus Christ and in the LDS church. For me I decided to find out when I was about 16. Truthfully its not always easy being a member and as a 16 year old I decided that if I was going to keep going to a church where I was asked to dedicate so much of my life to working for others, contributing tithing and offerings and spending my weekends and some weeknights involved in church that I better know that it was true. I took the challenge that our missionaries give to anyone who wants to investigate our church and prayed to my Heavenly Father to get an answer. My prayer was answered and my life has been blessed because of it. I am grateful to see how the teachings of my Savior are guiding my families lives and what great people they are turning out to be . . .at least most of the time.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. My morals and values that were taught to me from my parents were based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I believe in being honest, kind, hardworking and in finding ways to help my fellow man. I currently help organize the High Priests Quorum in our ward which centers its activities around insuring that the neediest among us are being taken care of with a special focus on any of the single or widowed sisters. I love having the opportunity to visit with families and find ways to ease their burdens or to bring some joy into their lives.
