Hi I'm Hopper

Grew up in Utah. I gotta mom dad, and four little sisters. Family of Adventure, Best Family ever. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Aloha! I love football, food, and my ukulele....sometimes dating. I'm jk I love dating, and do it quite oft ;) I am an older brother for 4 sisters. I got the Best Mom, and a super hero for a dad. Together we've had some pretty amazing adventures, in which we've places such as Mexico, Italy, Greece, and Israel. I'm a huge fan of Psych, Monk, wake surfing/boarding, and my grandma's spaghetti. Sadly no, my real name is not Hopper, it's Allen, but everyone calls me Hop, Hip-hop, Hopper and alike. I'm a student at BYU, and on return home from my mission, plan on getting a Degree in Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

Some of my fondest memories as a child were the times I got to spend with my Uncle. Adam was his name. I don't know why, perhaps to give my mom a break, but he would often take me hunting and fishing. I remember him teaching me how to tie on a fishing hook, or gut a fish. Adam wore a hat....always. and for awhile so did I, I wanted to be just like him. I marveled at his ability with nature, his ingenuity, and kindness. I wanted to be just like him. He later married my aunt Krystal. I would see his face when he looked at her, and I would just KNOW he loved her. When I was 16 both my aunt and uncle died in a car accident. The night my family found out, to escape the bitter sound of 5 crying girls, I left my home, found a quite place, and there cryed unto Lord to just help me! I had to know if this was true, I had to know if I could see them again, I wanted hope. I would do anything to know. God answered my prayer, I felt something that is very hard to describe. I felt a warm almost burning feeling, or as if a warm wind had smacked me in the face. My heart ached a little less. I had gotten my answer, somehow I knew, without any doubt, There was a God and He loved me very much. That night marked a change in me forever. With that knowledge, my eyes were opened to the things that I was doing wrong, and I wanted to change. I have since strived to follow God's will and grow closer to Him. I have wittnessed miracles in my own life and in the life of my family. I will see my Uncle and Aunt again, I am truely blessed. Why am I a Mormon? Because it's True. All of it.

How I live my faith

I strive everyday to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ, My Big Brother. Because It is through Him and His Atonement that I have am saved. Everyday I try to grow closer to Him and my Loving Heavenly Father through prayer and scripture study. In addition to doing my best to follow God's commandments I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in Taiwan, Taipei. Speaking Manderin. From the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed, I get to focus on nothing but serving my God and King. I can think of no better way to spend my time. And no more rewarding opportunity.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Hopper
For the same reason Football Players coach Football, Violinists teach Violin, and Friends share cookies! Because good people with good things wish to share them, thus Latter-day Saints preach the amazing Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you see a pair of young guys in ties or young gal's in skirts, with Jesus Christ's name over their heart, talk to them. It very well maybe the best decision you ever make. Better then football, violin, and cookies! Show more Show less

What is faith?

Hopper
When I pull through the drive-through of a fast food restaurant and order a burger, I am using faith. In the 11th chapter of Hebrews, the 1st verse states that faith is a "hope for things which are not seen, which are true" When I pull up to a fast food restaurant I have hope for the burger that I can not see but is real, tangible, and true. (I'm going to get my burger!) Because of this hope for a good burger I fork over my money and take some time to order. In this particular case I have faith in this fast food restaurant. When I or perhaps Christians refer to Faith it is most likely referring to Faith in Jesus Christ. It is only through Faith in Jesus Christ that we may return to our Heavenly Father's presence and have lasting happiness in this life. Unlike the fast-food analogy we do not have faith in Jesus Christ that He will make us a burger, but rather that He lives! I have faith that His Atonement is real. I have faith Jesus Christ knows me loves me and influences my life daily. Because of that faith, that hope, I pay the price. I obey his commandments. I try everyday to be better. In return (the burger) I receive help and grace from Jesus Christ to continually improve, I also receive assurance through the Holy Ghost that God is proud of me. Anyone including you can feel the same way, it can start small. Pray. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Hopper
If you want to avoid an alcohol addiction, don't intake alcohol. If you want to avoid a cocaine addiction, don't intake cocaine. If you want to avoid being addicted to and falling under the influence of pornography... DON'T LOOK AT IT! You may be thinking "but it's on the streets, it's on the desk in front of me, it's in my friends room, it's on the computer next to me, it's on the isle of every check out stand, there is no way to never look at it." I recognize it's not as simple as just never looking at it. In these times, with out divine, and perhaps judicial help it IS impossible from running into pornography. Here's what will stop it: When Satan comes knocking, don't let him in, shut the door on his face and SHUT IT HARD! I'll say it simpler. If you are driving and see a pornographic billboard...focus on the road, don't think about it. If you see it on the computer next to you, move and don't think about it. If it's in your friends room, don't go in their room. When your friend asks why, tell them. If it's on the desk in front of you, be bold and loving by telling them to put it away. Dictate your own destiny. For those that are caught, are regularly looking at porn and are reading this; I'll speak in a different tone because you probably know more then others of the heartache and destruction pornography brings. I know our Father has destined His spiritual sons and daughters for something greater then what you are now experiencing. Pray. If you pray He will help you. Show more Show less
