Hi I'm Mary Heywood

I love people, chocolate, the desert, laughing, jumping in rain puddles, reading a good book, coloring, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love life! It may not always be easy, or go as planned, but life is truly beautiful. I have a wonderful, loving support system of family and friends. I have two legs, two arms, and a brain that work. I can feel sunshine on my face, and on rainy days I know the sun will come again. I can taste beautiful food. I can hear uplifting, fun music, and the tinkling of childs laughter. I can smell the roses. I can see the good in the world around around me. I have the power to choose. I choose to be, and to find, the positive. We have to go through life one way or another, we might as well enjoy it, and be happy along the way! I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way of happiness. Not always the easy path, but the best one. I have learned to love the little things, and find the good in what seems bad. And because I have done this, I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family active in the LDS church. When I was eight I was given the choice to be baptized as a member. I couldn't wait!! Of course at the tender age of eight I hardly understood the gospel, but I knew that I loved Jesus and that being baptized was the right thing to do. Which is essentially all that matters, doing what you know is right. Ever since then I have gained more knowledge and a stronger testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that this gospel is true. The Atonement is real and one of the biggest reasons I continue to stay and grow in this gospel. I am an imperfect person who needs the perfect love of Christ. Through His atonement I get through my stuggles and my joys. He will guide my life if I only listen. He loves me. No matter what. And isn't that wonderful?! My comfort comes through my Savior. All it takes is prayer, a desire, and He is there. This does not mean He takes away my trials. But strengthens me through them. He picks me up when I fall. Every single time. He holds me close when I fail and when I succeed. His love is everlasting and unconditional. This church is true. There are prophets - that are called of God - on this earth today. Miracles happen. The Atonement always works. True - lasting - joy is found only through choosing righteousness and following the Spirit. He will never abandon us. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I KNOW that it is true!

How I live my faith

Everyday I wake up and make the choice to demonstrate my faith and follow my Savior Jesus Christ. Before I was called as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I thoroughly enjoyed teaching the three turning four year old children in my family ward. Now I absolutely love being a missionary in the Australia Adelaide mission. I love that I get to share my testimony everyday, I love that I get to devote all my time to sharing the gospel, that as I teach about Jesus Christ I become closer to Him. I am not a perfect missionary or member of the church, but I love God. And I want to do what is right. So everyday I wake up and choose to show my faith and do my best to follow my Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Mary Heywood
By revelation from our loving Heavenly Father, our prophets - all throughout time - have been chosen. Our senior Apostle becomes the prophet of the church, as our Saviour Jesus Christ remains the head. Show more Show less
