Hi I'm Marissa

I love red lipstick, blueberry muffins, and getting lost in a book. The Holidays are the best time of the year. I am a mormon.

About Me

My name is Marissa and I am serveing a mission in the Birmingham, England mission! I just finished up a semester of college in December and I left on my mission in February. I am 19 years old and feel so blessed to be able to serve a mission due to the recent age limit changes. I love sports, hanging out with my friends, movies, reading, writing, swimming, the outdoors, art, music, and spending time with my family. I'm a big believer in volunteer work and have seen how it has blessed many lives, including my own. I LOVE my mission and feel so blessed to serve the Lord in this great and marvelous work. It's a pleasure and a privilege to wear his name next to mine each and everyday as well as a great reminder that Christ is always with me when I keep him in my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because it makes me HAPPY. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know in my heart that this is the true gospel. I know that Joseph Smith restored this gospel to the earth to help EVERYONE come to know of the truth and to realize that we are all children of God. Through this gospel I know that I am never alone and that with this church, comes hope. Jesus Christ is the light of the world and this gospel is the becon that leads us back into heaven to live with our Heavenly Father and family for all eternity. I am a missionary because I know these things to be true. I know that Christ is my Savior, Redeemer, Brother, and Friend. I know that my short 18months of service is miniscule compared to all that Christ has done for me but I know that I am trying my best and will continue to until the very end. I know that when we try our best - Christ will cover the rest. I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity I have been given to serve the Lord in His work. It is a pleasure and a privilege to wear Christ's name over my heart each and every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by volunteering in my own community. I believe that making the world a better place starts by strengthening your family, home, and community. I have volunteered at an animal shelter in my home town for three years, a community hospital for three years, and a retirement facility for two years. My time spent in volunteer work has taught me gratitude, love, and compassion. Volunteering has made me realize that the time spent helping others is really time spent helping myself to learn and to grow and I am so thankful for everyone who has had such a positive impact on my life. It is impossible to explain how much my mission has blessed my life. I have only just begun and I can already see the Lord's hand in the work as well as in my life. Serving a mission has opened my eyes to a whole new world and perspective. The miracles I see everyday are an amazing witness to me of God's plan and how he is preparing his children to hear His word. I feel so blessed to serve. Even though it can be hard at times, I can testify that those are the times I learn the most. Trials are a way of helping us to learn, grow, and open our hearts and our minds to how our Father in Heaven wants us to be. My mission has blessed my life, my family, and my future family. I will never forget my time spent trying my best to be a representative of Jesus Christ and I am forever grateful. D&C 123:17
